Re: Options for reading & writing real Disciple / Plus D & SAM disks in 2024

Some time ago I used an utility called Omniflop for DOS, the author was kind enough to add the format, and I think it keeps working in the new Windows version.

Re: New multi platform emulator - Speculator

I was also testing it (Windows 10) and looks really nice, really surprised how good the beeper emulation is at this stage. Besides things mentioned above, I also found that loading a zip file, sometimes misses the first block.

He should probably be removed from Flying Shark and possibly more titles. A snippet from the softography: Thanks! I'm going to try and create a proper ZX Spectrum list based on that page and other sources I can find, I hate to remove information from the database, you never know why authors are ass...

Re: In game beeper music

It's complex but necessary to set the limits; if we include 'Jack The Nipper II' , it opens the door for other games with similar characteristics, like 'Cobra'. Yes, I agree, but we can handle that as we discover more. For now, I'm adding everything that plays a tune in-game for more than a second,...

Thanks! Cómeme was also missing some credits (specially Sandra Ariza with the level design, love when other members of the family help with the game). That is also fixed.

Re: In game beeper music

In dynamite dan 2 it happens too. I remember that when you take the vinyl to the jukebox, a melody plays. And picking some objects too. Dynamite Dan games case is easier to justify, because they have many and recognizable melodies (I added them to the list). In Jack the Nipper II is more tricky, be...

Re: Additional credit for Flying Shark

Thanks Gears!
I wonder why Gavin Wade and Drew Northcott are listed there? Northcott was a loading screen artist, but not sure about Wade. The loading screen is signed PIP+PAVL to make things more confusing.
I can track those names from the old WOS, so, they were there for a while.

Thanks Stoob. I'm checking my notes and I have no idea why this particular report was left behind, probably because it was part of a conversation with Einar. I'm adding it to the TODO list.

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Keith Burkhill): discussion

I think the issue with the GG conversion is that it is not the full game, and feels kind of unpolished (and let not talk about the loading screen), but the gameplay is quite close to the original, and in fact, that's the signature of the author: all his games are very playable, even conversions of 1...

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Keith Burkhill): discussion

Keith is one of the programmers I learned to recognize and follow as a kid. He was a freelance working on its own, and he did many of those conversations just by memory or with a VHS of someone playing the game. I was surprised when I discovered he's not better recognized in the scene, and his conve...

Hi StooB About your fixes on the SQIJ! I was thinking that on top of removing the inaccurate comment, we can give more context based on the interview on Eurogamer. I was thinking on adding two extra comments: "Jason Creighton recalls CRL reporting having sold about 250 copies." and "J...

Re: Which games use teleporting ?

Yeah, I was taking a look, I have no trouble excluding the Star Trek clones from the list, since the warp speed is just a way to move ships on the grid, but I really want to add the Codename Mat games, so, I was thinking to create the group as "Hyperspace/Warp" so we can add those titles.

Yes! I think so, because it is not that the character is entering and exiting the doors, it is implied that it is teleporting by the animation.

Well, that's unexpected. I've played a bootleg version La miniera abbandonata that had some weird rumbles that the child me understood as "mine sounds". It was broken soundtrack instead. (a similar issue happened to Panzadrome, in that case the sound broke the game) Similar things happene...
