Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle

Apparently, sooner or later I will have to admit the terrible truth - my emulator is not worthy of your money. Well, I can live with it)

Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle

At the moment, apart from standard emulator functionality, the full version of my emulator has: - multilanguage adjustable interface - advanced window/picture customization - extended ZX Spectrum emulation settings - advanced emulation control - smartest auto loading for media files - best Spec256 m...

Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle

But now I am considering the possibility of releasing my emulator through a crowdfunding scheme. If there are people here who wants to support the author financially and sponsor the release of my emulator for free use, please write in a personal message the estimated amount of your donation in the s...

Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle

Let's summarize. I was completely disappointed in the monetization scheme I chose. I found only one user who agreed to support the project according to the specified scheme, Bedazzle . He supported the project (to be honest, the author) financially all this year, for which I am grateful to him. He w...

Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle

@djnzx48, thank you for your interest. You were interested in the project back in the day, and I implemented some of your requests in my monitor but sadly not all of them. But I still want to implement them someday)

As for your question, now I have some thoughts which I share in the posts below:

I completed Manic Miner in March 2017 on my emulator without saves and pokes, after two weeks of trying and training. It was not that hard)

Re: R-type question

I'm at work so I will try this later, but does it matter if it is the angle laser or the circle laser? I have beaten the boss a couple of times, but I can't do it consistently yet. It seems so frenetic, I'm just blasting away and sometimes I kill it and sometimes I don't. I've tried to detach the f...

Re: R-type question

I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet... When you get to the boss, fire the Force into the face that eventually starts appearing in the middle of the boss. Move your ship to the top of the screen, out of the way of the tail, and let the Force do it's work. An easier way is to stand in the corne...

Re: R-type question

Unfortunately R-Type suffers from “Gradius syndrome” a lot. If you manage to stay alive and collect all power-ups the game is relatively doable. But if you loose a life, you’re left with a seriously underpowered ship and it is very hard to recover from that. Yes, it's true. As far as I remember, th...

I finished it without pokes :P (but after almost 2 months of training with saves and rollbacks). I have a bunch of my fair RZX-walkthroughs from this period :)

Re: R-type question

I was very impressed with the "no shooting" video that Xela posted. In the comments section of that, someone mentioned your ship in the arcade version has only a 1 pixel hitbox in its center, something that became a sort of standard for those bullet hell games that came much later. I had ...

Re: R-type question

Joystick, I’ve always used a joystick for Speccy games. Well, it will be more difficult with joystick, because some places require very precise positioning (for example, level 6 with the maze). Level 5 is impressive, more than halfway on a such a tough game is nothing to sneeze at. Level 5 is tough...

Nice. Congrats. Did you play The Hit Squad release? Is that version fixed? Thanks :) I played the Electric Dreams/Activision release with normal 8th level. Re: R-type question

I completed R-Type (all 8 levels) without cheats after almost 2 months of regular play, but on my emulator, and I trained with rollbacks. And I knew how to pass levels 1-3 from my youth.

Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle

Mmmmh heavy crippled software to evaluate honestly. Fade out etc. are reasonable for a demo, but working external input devices and other features should be enabled just for testing and be sure the emu works fine with them... :? Mmmh, Kempston stick doesn't seem to work (XInput devices tested: gamepad XBox One BT, 8BitDo Arcade Stick)... Demo version doesn't support game devices, full version does. And screen is a bit dark... and randomly gets darker leaving the emu in background (?). Default settings (and Direct3D). Demo ...

I have implemented the first edition of SNV format in my emulator, and - I like how it looks in hex viewer: https://zx-pk.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=79270&d=1692037715 Specified configuration flags for now: snv8kbPages = $80000000; snvLongPageNumbers = $40000000; snvLateTimings = $00000001; ...

Re: New snap format that convenient for view/modify

Luckily emulator authors are always very well behaved when implementing snapshot export code, so finding snapshots with data stuffed into unused/reserved bits from an original specification to support extra hardware for their particular emulator basically never happens! :D Maybe sometimes. Re: New snap format that convenient for view/modify

Use szx because it's not perfect but most of the bugs caused by confusing design issues have been squashed out of everyone's implementation by now. But szx is not viewable/explorable/modifiable almost at all. Or create something new where every piece of configuration and memory block is its own blo...
