Yeah I definitely would have been loading in +3 mode.

Re: What are the speech samples saying, in Auf Wiedersehen Monty?

This thread is really confusing for me - I played Auf Wiedersehen Monty a lot - I don't think I completed it but I got, I dunno, 2/3rds of the island showing up in the status area - but I have absolutely no recollection of speech samples. But I downloaded a .tzx and there they were, as early as the ...

Breakpoints in Fuse debugger

I'm in Fuse (Windows, 1.6.0), emulating a Spectrum 128, and trying to set a breakpoint when 0xC0D8 is written to. I can do breakpoint write 0xc0d8 which works OK - but that fires whatever memory page is paged in at 0xC000. I'm trying to refine that to ONLY fire when the default memory page is paged ...

Ooh that sounds like it could be interesting for reversible debugging.

Re: Tenager claims to be first to beat Tetris

1. You can't "beat" Tetris. He has allegedly reached a "kill screen" (like we are familiar with from Pac-Man). I am going to disagree here I think, he played so well that he broke the game. Maybe there's no technical definition of beating Tetris but informally I think it's a per...

Huh, I didn't know it was supposed to be 128K. (Or alternatively, I did know but I'd forgotten.) I was assuming it would be an extra 16K like Shadow of the Unicorn.

Re: If your Spectrum ownership was with a different model...

I could have started with the +3 for about 70 quid more. That would have greatly helped my programming and art efforts, it's great to quickly load BASIC efforts - resume things, update them, etc. I'd have been happy with that. On the gaming side, I doubt I'd have really forked out more for +3 games...

Thanks.

Pretty wild that there are redefinable keys except for this.
(If you define V as one of the other keys then it takes on both roles.)

Solomon's Key - fireballs?

Inspired by Stuart Campbell's Speccy Arcade conversions list, I'm going through and having a bit of a play on some of these.
I remember liking Solomon's Key back in the day, but how do fireballs work (ie how does the player activate one)? There's no key for it in the "redefine keys" screen.

Re: Were some games meant to be cheated on?

With the likes of Atic Atac and Starquake, at least a player with a photographic memory for the layout of the map and a total understanding of where to go at all times has a hope of completing those games, and even then it requires charging around at full belt and never, ever, ever slowing down... ...

I'll nominate Batty's level 3. Not quite as hard as some of the others mentioned here, maybe, but such a steep jump up from level 2 that it just makes the sequencing ridiculous.

Ah, I had wondered for many years about that, and then things became clearer recently. Or rather not. You see, that pointed observation might come from someone's homophobia. I hope it doesn't actually, and maybe it's a misguided fear of wrong-doing. You're still scratching your head, okay, I'll rev...
