Re: ZXSpin Assembler

Are the x and y values the wrong way around? How do you mean the wrong way round? This is where I get confused because Jonathan's documentation (and AGD) say X when they mean Y (the vertical axis) and Y when they mean X (the horizontal axis). Both ways work as long as the vertical axis is RSTd firs...

Re: ZXSpin Assembler

I use 0.666 and have never had any problems, but then I don't use assembly to its full potential.

The problem is this line:

ld hl,21+15*256

It loads HL with 9216 = 0,36 which is an impossible coord.

ld hl,21+(15*256) works.

The sprites and font in Buzzsaw+ were designed as binary data statements in the PASMO listing! It works! Though I assumed you used contemporary packages, I pictured you agonising over every pixel for months. If my memory serves me well, I had a separate sheet with three drop-down menus per characte...

Freddy Hardest.

Even though it's essentially a memory game I'm a sucker for the Spanish style and the world it created. I even think I made it below the surface once.

I've done that a few times too but just thought it was me being cack-handed. I'll put a bit of a pause in there for the next version. Re: Graph Paper

No. I built an Excel spreadsheet for the whole screen, manually input each pixel as a 1 or 0 and used formulae to convert these into a string of values for 0x4000 and beyond (I hope I got that right). Oof! I did something similar for the attributes. I'm struggling to visualise this (I get the pixel...

RMartins wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2017 9:45 pm This reminds me of a few graphics I found 4 months ago, with 30+ years, when I was doing games in Basic.
I have to scan those, one of these days.

They were all done in some "accountant" grid paper, my parent gave me from a firm that had been closed.
Please do!

This is the best xmas song ever, after 'Stop the Cavalry' of course. Is there anything I can do to temp someone to do a Beeper version I can use on the Tape Magazine?

I knew I had these somewhere. These were done on regular graph paper around 2011. http://stonechatproductions.co.uk/zxgames/gameimages/moeb_small.jpg Stamp Quest graphics. I'm picking my way through these and while some of them are howlers, all show promise and are great to browse through. There's some great beeper music, I think from bespoke code. I'd like to see Robotank with the playability issues removed (keypresses, unfair reaction times). And I'm afraid I'm sure...

Re: Best (Homebrew) game from 2015

Strange Kitchen shouldn't really be on this list, it was released in 2016. I did release a "Beta" version in 2015 to show what I'd done with Charade though, but it wasn't responsive enough to play properly and I didn't "officially" release it as such. And what's wrong with Word ...
