Re: Robot Messiah loading screen - spot the difference
I also have a theory about who designed the screen. Mike Smith is credited with graphics for the game, but if you compare it to Gunrunner (signed "MS"), or any other games Smith was involved in, it's a completely different style. Mike Smith isn't credited with any role in the DB - could i...

Re: Robot Messiah loading screen - spot the difference
Good spot fellas. The screen currently in the archive has code* hiding under the attributes at the bottom left... https://stonechatproductions.co.uk/zxgames/gameimages/RobotMessiahLoad.gif ...which is more typical of later cracks and snapshots (isn't it?)—like the SCL disk version you link to Stu. A...

Re: Issues changing email address on other site (WoS)
if only so we don't accidentally go off topic here and speak about non Spectrum related stuff and get mild chastisement ;) Sorry if it came across that way - I did wonder if I was being too harsh. I like accidental offtopic's, but I felt that thread wasn't just veering off the tracks, it was intent...

Re: Games you played the most with friends?
Of course! I knew I played some multiplayers, but could only think of turn based games like Chuckie Egg. Yep Ikari was a great 2 player, and a good exercise in teamwork, or maybe not - I have mixed memories of camaraderie, underhand tactics, tank envy and bomb envy.

Re: Honestly, this is more of an idea to myself, but what if IWBTG was on the Speccy?
Sounds fun - especially if you could get some 8 bit Speccy references in there the way IWBTG does with arcade games. 'Fraid I'm not familiar with highrises tool, but MPAGD (runs on PC) and AGD (runs on a speccy) come with a manual and full instructions. They're pretty easy to get into and you can do...

Re: New Mastertronic Slideshow
Both the Speccy and the C64 have their share of turkeys and exceptional screens. The Amstrad ones are mostly okay, with nothing really standing out either - must be the curse of the port. I do like the C64's stylish grey Bruce Lee one (Sorry FD Thorpe!),and the C64 Zub is brilliant - just edging out...

I like the changes to the nebulae but I prefer the faces without the red. I think the red can work well, but not as an afterthought.

I'm adding the Azipack compilation to the DB (which I think by Azi's own admission has not a little in common with Firebird's Don't Buy This!). One of the games has an opening beeper ditty that I recognise. So I can add it as a musical reference, can anyone tell me what it is? Download here . The ga...

Any chance of a link? I can't find it. I wonder if that gives any more clues to the authors. Bloody hell I've fallen for an Eq tangent! You were talking about Rise out of the Dungeons on MSX. I actually woke in the night and thought "Hang on - the odds of a Blaby release on the MSX are rather ...

Time passes. Not far off 2 years as it goes, and I see the RZX has appeared, so bloody well done Eq on persevering! This game doesn't have any authors attributed. The game mentions them only as 3 letter acronyms "AJS" and "PMC". I'll get these added, but can anyone do any detecti...

Re: MIA Preview Episode 7 (ADMINS IMPORTANT PLEASE READ)
So it sounds like it's an unofficial re-release, that was technically legal in Italy?
If added, is there a precedent for such things @Einar Saukas? Would it just be added as a re-releaser to ID 190 with a note?

Mega Tron seems to be still missing in Spectrum Computing database ;) https://trastero.speccy.org/2024/Thrydhent/Thrydhent.html Ta. Added. Don't forget you can add these yourself via Pav's easy to use tool (red link at top). They're going for Dynamic levels of difficulty - I found it hard to play l...

Alright. Screen 1. I've cleared the (lethal) wheelbarrow, but how do you land on the wall next to it without dyeing?

The listing itself says to remember to SAVE the UDGs. Here's a temporary link to a fix. The file will appear after the next update.
Not in any real sense.

Re: "Cleaner" - graphics problem
There's a smaller tape file in the zip - that's the UDGs. You need to LOAD""CODE those first.
I'll look at concatenating both files as a bugfix. Do we have undiscovered gem material here...?

Thanks for your efforts on this Frankie. I agree on both conflicting points - it is a lot of effort to go to for an illegal crack, and it is unusual that Vortex doesn't get a mention. So that doesn't help! Alessandro has a good nose for things like this too, just in case. Any chance you can make the...

Nice interface and a good read. I like the cut of Coarsetone's gib with the Overcomposure article. Honest criticism from a standpoint of wanting better, and praise where it was due. The Dave Fountain article has lead me down a rabbithole of old FP and Knucklegirl's demos :o It won't revolutionise ho...

Simon Cooke's label entry links to a Wikipedia article which is actually about a Kiwi olympic sailor of the same name.
I can't find an alternative Simon Cooke at Wikipedia, so the wiki link should be deleted. However, the link to his own site is good, and has a pretty cool speccy themed GUI!
