Re: AUSPOOLS and PROSPECT3 (m.i.a. recovered)
Nice one! I also found a copy of British Pools which has already been preserved, but the version in ZXDB (1 September 1985) is earlier than the copy I have here (1 February 1986). I've made a TZX of it; would it be worth uploading that as well? I'd say yep - upload it as it's a more recent update. I...

Re: Be careful - image flipping won'r protect you!
Crikey. Not sure how I feel about this one. So if we use a photo reference for e.g. a loading screen, flipped or otherwise, we could still technically end up in hot water? If we use the Greencard SCRamble technique we'll probably be safe... https://stonechatproductions.co.uk/zxgames/gameimages/Turan...

Re: The best Speccy game by Future Stars: vote
I voted for Tommy as it's the only decent game I voted Tommy too, but I think all three are pretty good. I'm pleasantly surprised how well they all play, given that the screenshots predisposed me to expect clunky howlers with impossible gameplay. 1 - Tommy. Pound shop Pyjamarama, which is no bad th...

Re: Miscellaneous game questions...
Are there any speccy games where the player (or any) character walks unusually? E.g. with a limp, hobbles, or even something worthy of Monty Python?

Re: Escape from EXODRON
All itch page comments deleted and the MK1 logo removed from the game entirely and only seen on the inlay. The Pixelsoft PR dept clearly advised to double down!

1 - No I've no plans to do any upgrades to CGD. AY can be hacked in afterwards though, as gasman for Yerz on The Deadly Labyrinth of Lord Xyrx.
2 - I'll never say never, but highly unlikely (thanks tho).

Re: Escape from EXODRON
It suggests a deliberate effort to avoid crediting them. It's all rather odd, but I can't believe it's that. He gives it a credit on the game's info page: Para ello he usado el motor MK1 de los mojón twins And going by all other recent and past games by Pixelsoft which do show the full logo, I can'...

@highrise do you want the thread splitting? From around here it started morphing into a Galaxians thread.

Re: Escape from EXODRON
@R-Tape Before writing this, I spoke with one of the MojonTwins members and I can assure you that they are not exactly happy Ah. Oh yes I've just seen the comments. It's a shame things are going a bit wrong here, because it's a decent game and a lot of effort has gone into the main parts of it. Hop...

Re: Escape from EXODRON
Well, we continue with other details "copied" from other games: MojonTwins Impossamal death screen (same moving 3D effect and same number font and hub). Could this be a built-in and freely usable part of the Mojon's MK1 library? The same way that a lot of churro games re-use the def...

It's probably the heaviest takeoff inertia I've seen, but I'm starting to like it. There's a great whooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaa feeling as you take off just in the nick of time when a baddy is approaching.

Re: Escape from EXODRON
Given the "open and free" nature of the Spectrum community and its games, this could have been an innocent mistake made in good faith, perhaps by someone quite young and naive. Yep perhaps he (incorrectly) thought it was 'fair game' the way a lot of the 90's stuff is viewed. Monty has qui...

Yes I noticed the re-use, but it was so blatant that I assumed it was allowed! Know anything @redballoon?Lee Bee wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 2:04 pm Looks good, though the cover and logo have sparked a little controversy with Juan J. Martínez.

1 - Camelot Warriors
2 - Freddy Hardest
3 - Navy Moves
I have more memories of playing these BITD than I do for a lot of British publishers. Some superb games and I love the Spanish style.
Close one on third position - it could have easily been Army Moves or Astro Marine Corps on a different day.

Re: Eat the Fly
Love it - simple, oldschool, cute.
Note for DB - still in development - don't add yet. There's something wrong with the 10 level demo (or me) - the first level has 0 moves allowed which overclocks to 255, and the second level has "1 0" moves, which equates to an impossible 1.

Just in case any of the ZX diaspora live in strange countries where they don't have sheepdog trials on terrestrial TV, it's a riff on One Man and His Dog.

Re: Thinking about trying out CGD before I try out PGD
What do you think? Is it usable enough for a beginner like me? As the author of C.G.D, I can say that it's entirely suitable for beginners and upwards. Everything you need to know should be in the manual and IMO the designer itself is intuitive and fun to use. It was nearly called the Crap Games De...
