A crap MM ( Ian's Night Out ) https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/SCRtoImage.php?SCR=/conv_scr/w/WinerMilly.scr&border=0 There's also Winer Milly on the same cassette, which is even more on the nose! As you say, neither MM nor CGC material. I've got a soft spot for both. Winer Milly might even be a...

Thanks. Very cool and atmospheric! It's nice to see great games still being made with the Spectrum-based AGD designer.

Re: how do print to the screen using an exact pixel location in code?
im sure this is fairly easy as this is the way the spectrum displays characters anyway. I'm afraid not! The spectrum's display is designed with easy printing of characters at set positions of columns and rows—not pixel positions. My beginner's sprite routine might help. Have a read of the thread as...

Re: The best Speccy game by Cult Games: vote
I just wanted to add another shout out to Kemshu - a very interesting outlier from this publisher. I don't know if this is a well established type of puzzle, but I'd never heard of it or this game before. As noted in this thread, the keys are a bit twitchy, but it's a very addictive puzzle otherwise.

The 'is anyone in touch with?' thread
Is anyone in touch with @Morcar? It looks like his email has been hacked* so if someone can let him know by some other channel that would be great.

Re: Coincidence!
Interesting. I was actually searching for the game he posted on the SC search, and when I didn't find it I noticed the option "non-crap only" in Advanced so I turned it off, but still didn't find it. You mean Travel with Pacman? It's there . I guess most of the "crap" ones are n...

@GreenCard if you're linking to something in the archive, right click on the image and copy the address - that can be used in a forum post.

Re: RIP F David Thorpe
He has some fantastic loading screens, but one of my favs is the one for his own game: Royal Birkdale: Championship Golf I see from the video Juan links to further up that this is the one that got him the gig as their graphics guy. I bet when the Ocean team asked him to do a loading screen for this...

Re: Game of the day...
Been playing Catwalk today I'm pretty fond of this game. Just had a blast myself - and thoroughly failed to reach the catfood on screen 4. I don't think it's possible to represent a Jackdaw better in as many pixels. Looking at the map , the penultimate screen features JSW, Horace and Kong. Maybe I ...

Re: Matchboxes and two more
Perhaps a bit simple for the £2.50 price tag, but these are pretty charming, with an oldschool mail order feel to them. I made a strange discovery on Wingo - on level 7, "BOTTY" makes it return to BASIC (so does POTTY or anything OTTY for that matter)! I checked if it was a curse word filt...

RIP Frederick David Thorpe. Screens like Blue Max shows he could wrestle with attributes and win, Cavelon shows artistic inspiration and skills of composition, and Chinese Juggler and Eskimo Eddie are simply fantastic screens and not just 'for the speccy'. Not to mention his landscape art. He was pr...

Re: New Game: Nectar
There is now a learners mode, selected from the main menu, which starts with an easier level and you don't lose collected nectar between lives. Great idea. There's a bug though - if you complete a level in learner mode it gets stuck in a loop. It looks like it tried to start a new level, but automa...

Re: Bunkered! By Global Software 1985 - can't any reference online
After chatting with bartfast and others, it seems unlikely that a golf game called "Bunkered" was recorded over on both sides with a BASIC golf game from 3 years earlier, and more likely that Global Software are the re-releaser of Abrasco's Golf. I still find it weird that Global haven't m...

Re: Something I noticed about Renegade 3
Had it have been a budget game with nothing to do with the series, called "Time Punk" then we'd probably be more forgiving. Yep great points. It could even have gone as far as 'hidden gem' with quirky speccy humour. So having said that, I'm wondering if I should up my vote from a 6 to 7...

Yep! Android 1. Just been playing (wrestling with?) it and wondered what the reviews made of it. For some reason I found it harder than an isometric.

Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
It's a relatively simple affair where everything moves in exact character squares, complicated by a rotate and move control system.

Re: Game of the day...
I'm reassured by it only having ten levels, perhaps I'm less rubbish than I thought. (Got as far as The Pits) First attempt, level one was a nightmare for me. I needed to get used to the strict collision and most importantly not be so bloody eager. There's a trick with The Pits: it's easy with it, ...

Massive thanks to bartfast * for sending me the tape for this. With the help of people in this thread , I managed to convert it to TAP. I'm not uploading anything to the site yet as there some questions over what's what here. Here's the TAP . But it's exactly the same as Abrasco's Golf , already in ...
