One part is nearly an anagram, one part tells you what to do to the 'nearly an anagram', one part is a bit of info about the coder.

Hope this one isn't unfair (by cryptic crossword standards anyway), but I'm a bit worried because maestro @Rorthron hasn't got it. This won't help much, but I'll start with a vague clue and ramp up accordingly:

There are 3 parts to the clue.
