Re: Guess the screen$

One aspect of the otherwise perfect-in-every-way Sinclair User was their Twilight Zone section, where they'd give write up very small reviews and no screenshot. No idea why they did this, unless printing a screenshot took up a lot of resources, but unfortunately Saracen falls into this category, so ...

That's a good shout. Slow it down, change the controls from "driving" controls, add shooting (I can't remember if it already had this) and you've got an FPS!

Why didn't the Spectrum have an FPS?

Obviously I'm talking about BITD and not in the modern era, but since we had quite a few 3D fast arcade games such as Starstrike, surely it wouldn't have been too much of a leap to transpose the action to a corridor? Re: Guess the screen$

Bit unkind to do a loading screen of a super obscure Spanish release that only got one review (YS caught it on a compilation and gave it 1/10) so I think you've basically won the thread now. I've mentioned this before, but how about an unwritten rule that the game has to have been reviewed by all o...

I'm guessing something post-1990, due to the quality of the graphics.

Correct!

(I'm curious where the similar sign is in Chuckie Egg 2 - I watched a quick vid but couldn't see anything?)

Slightly Incorrect Instructions for Voyage into the Unknown

I'm not sure if or how this is fixable, and/or if I've posted this in the wrong forum, but I've just noticed that the instructions for Voyage into the Unknown (taken from the old Spectrum Games Database entry written yonks ago at ) say that it received a Crash score of 9/10, when in fact it was 9%. ...

I think, like a lot of these "what were the best", a lot of it is cognitive bias. If you played a particular game or read a particular mag or hang around particular websites, it's very easy to assume everyone else in the world thinks the same thing. Having literally only played 4 of the ga...

Re: Starglider being used to gunge children on telly in 1987

From what I hear of Barcadia, you have to pay £10 for a bunch of American quarters, which gets you about 10 goes on the arcade machines, it's also located on probably the worst street for dealing with drunk clubbing types. Meanwhile, five minutes away there is an arcade in the mall which, for the p...
