Re: Are there any easy Spanish games?

I imagine that it also has to do with the specific games that were actually published / popular in the UK? Army Moves is hard and frustrating but it got a proper release in the UK and was reviewed in all magazines... Jungle Warrior or Capitan Trueno are examples of very playable games with a balance...

Re: Cozumel (Aventuras AD): B/W version?

It could be added as a bugfixed tape image. Is it just those two POKEs? I could prepare it later. There are two official editions, the second one (IBSA) is already the bugfixed one, so there's no need to provide additional images. I thought about maybe listing the POKEs just for reference, the same...

Re: Cozumel (Aventuras AD): B/W version?

In Cozumel: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/6183/ZX-Spectrum/Cozumel I noticed that the version of the game available in the TAP files include black & white graphics whereas the TZX files (both AD and IBSA releases) include coloured graphics... maybe is there a third b/w release? Sorry fo...

Re: Are there any easy Spanish games?

It's funny because back in the day I thought that Spectrum games were difficult in general, but I didn't think that the Spanish ones were particularly more difficult than the rest. I only saw the "Spanish games are difficult" meme when I read it on an English magazine. Anyway, here are som...

3)I get this kind of error (pic attached) while trying to run some zipped z80 images. I can run the .tap and .tzx versions of the same exact game without errors (other emulators like Inkspector can run the same zipped .z80 files fine) In fact , I get similar error while trying to run nearly 1/3 of ...

Hi, you can install Fuse for Linux directly from Flathub already: https://www.flathub.org/apps/details/net.sf.fuse_emulator I will also prepare the official Debian packages but I will need a bit more time for those, so bear with me! :-) I think an Appimage would be nice too. I never used Appimage m...

How can I contact the devs? See https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5410 I would try the mailing list as suggested earlier, although it's true that these days Fuse is not very active, we're mostly fixing bugs (I'm working myself on fixing some rare tape loading issues bu...

Re: Fuse 1.6 Released

That's because there haven't been any changes to fuse-utils in the past couple of years. Yes, but libspectrum was updated. I think that it does make some sense to re-compile fuse-utils with the newer library, and get some of the bugfixes. You don't need to recompile fuse-utils, as soon as you updat...

Re: Psion Chess beat me!

Psion Chess is quite weak, I was already able to beat it when I was a kid with almost no chess experience. That said, maybe it's not a bad program to start because it can be strong enough to beat you if you're inexperienced, it certainly plays better than some of my friends :D You can start with tha...

Re: Psion Chess

Right, the funny thing is that I have the TZX of version #2 (the one with red and green squares) from an old dump of WoS, but I cannot find it there anymore. So it must have been removed at some point.

That's the version that I had on tape, but I don't have the tape here with me to check it now.

Psion Chess

It seems that there are several versions of this game: 1. The tape version from Psion for the Spectrum 48K. https://i.postimg.cc/yJGsB9NT/chess-bw.png 2. Another tape version from Psion for the Spectrum 48K. Note the colours (and the option to change them) and the clock on top of the board. Same loa...

128K Syntax checker ROM

Hi, this is maybe a stupid question but I cannot find the answer: The Spectrum 128 has two 16K ROMs: the 48 ROM and a new ROM for the 128K editor and menu system. The +2A and +3 models add the +3DOS ROM and one more that is labelled "128K syntax checker". What is this last one exactly or, ...

Re: Ghosts 'n Goblins VS Ghouls 'n' Ghosts

I'm also surprised by the poll results. Ghosts 'n Goblins (the original arcade version) is one of my favourite games of all time (I actually prefer it to Ghouls 'n' Ghosts). The Spectrum version by Elite was quite decent. In my opinion it could have been better: half of the levels were missing and s...

You can also use a tool like BAS2TAP to convert a BASIC listing into a TAP file that you can then load into Fuse:

BUBBLER IS ACTUALLY A PRETTY DECENT GAME.

:-)

And I'll add: it's probably the best Ultimate game published after Alien 8.

What impressed me a lot about Atic Atac was when I watched a walkthrough of it on YouTube, it was only two or three minutes long!!! I didn't have a Spectrum when the Ultimate games came out, I only played them when the company had already disappeared. Here's a different answer to this question: As I'm sure many of you know, Rare (the company founded by the Stampers after Ultimate) published in 2015 a compilation for the Xbox named Rare Replay, which includes 30 of their games. Among those there are 7 of their Ultimate-era games: Jetpac, all 5 48K...

I think Xybots is actually pretty good: Lots of levels. Around 50 on the Spectrum version, more than 3 hours of continuous gameplay. Ok difficulty level: it's very hard to finish the game but it's very easy to make progress and complete many levels before you run out of lives, so it's challenging bu...
