Thing + Deviants - Players +3 Disk MIA(?)
Someone on eBay's got a +3 disk for sale which appears to feature Thing and Deviants , neither of which appear to be on any currently known compilations other than covertapes etc. The listing is here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403980274082 I couldn't see this in the database anywhere but I'm guessi...

Re: Nice interview with the author of The Hobbit in The Guardian
Great article, jd - nice one! I just read it this morning as it's currently on Firefox's "Recommended by Pocket" whenever I open a new tab so I'm guessing it'll get a load more people reading it over the next few days!

Well, I still think there are a hell of a lot of co-incidences piling up here (he even lives/lived in the right neck of the woods for Codies) but I've sent him a message and hopefully we'll get a definitive answer one way or another. I hope it is him because otherwise I've bothered an innocent bysta...

Re: Where to sell?
Yeah, in my experience it tends to be the really piddly items that have generated the most hassle for me on eBay. Well, that and posting stuff to countries with less than reputable postal services. Well, actually there's also....... how much time do you have? Modern eBay = not a patch on Classic eBa...

There's nothing on that website to confirm they are the same person. I would repectfully disagree. His art confirms that they are the same person. Take a look at some of the pictures here and tell me that they're not the same style as the Codies inlays mentioned: http://alagram.co.uk/group/black-ma...

Hiya. Just spotted this thread and realised that I'd got Doncaster Powerbox in a bundle of tapes that I got from a Cornish gentleman a couple of years ago. They were described as "ZX Spectrum Ashley Green Up, Recorded from Master Tapes" and each of the 16 tapes has two different titles on....

Super Stuntman Series
Hiya. I was just looking at the Sky High Stuntman entry and assumed I'd see Super Stuntman as being the prequel to it. However, Sky High Stuntman isn't mentioned as being part of a series at all. Checking the entry for Super Stuntman I noticed that Italian Supercar *is* in the series, which I didn't...

Here the signature is more clear: https://www.mobygames.com/game/into-the-eagles-nest/cover-art/gameCoverId,400445/ As for me, it says ROB.8 I didn't find a match but I didn't search for long. Maybe it's Robin Chapman, one of the game authors himself??? It could even be "RO 8.8": a pair o...

Re: 'Friday the 13th' inlay by Domark
Hiya Mark. I've got some old (as in 2008 old) scans that I made from a not exactly mint example of the game that will require some serious tarting up but they were done at 600dpi so you stand a chance of getting something half decent looking from them.... hopefully! Good luck - Rich! ;) https://www....

Re: Hervé Trisson, author of Dick Tracy
Next question: what proof is there that Hervé Trisson programmed Dick Tracy? I've scoured the instructions, inlay and had a quick mooch at my TZX from my copy of Wild Streets and can't find any reference to anyone involved in the production of the game. I don't have an original copy of Dick Tracy bu...

Re: Chit Chat forum?
The beginning of the decline of WoS can be traced directly to the addition of the chit-chat forum, so I'd rather avoid having one, thanks very much :D I've already liked this comment anyway but I figured I'd post as well because I wholeheartedly agree. Just seeing the thread title made my heart sin...

Re: SC Retro
If there was an alternative way of displaying the search results here on SC and/or more customisation then that'd be awesome! Try "advanced search" in SC homepage and select "Results layout: compact" :) Incidentally, I hope I've got the right end of the stick here and have under...

Re: SC Retro
This sounds like a great idea! :) As much as I avoid posting on WOS any more, I did still use it up until it recently for searching through the archive as its old/classic layout was - for me - a lot quicker and, as you said, concentrated so much useful information at once. For example, if you did a ...

Re: Desert Rats 128k loading screen
That entry also highlights another issue - those scr files have a black border, and so are not being displayed with integer scaling, either in the main 2x image, or amongst the list of images further down the page supposedly at 1x. Looks like they are from really old days - feel free to capture new...

Re: New "special" issue of CRASH (with tribute to Jonathan Smith)
Sorry, I never really know who does what and tend to just see anything on SC as part of ZXDB directly and vice versa. I only tagged you because you'd mentioned it was now official earlier in the thread. It should be a magazine but PAPER really is misleading as presumably that implies that it was pri...

Re: New "special" issue of CRASH (with tribute to Jonathan Smith)
I'm seriously impressed with how much effort you've put into this to make it look so authentic even down to slight blurring of text near the gutter, and the content is brilliant as well. My only gripe would be that I felt the whole aspect of Lie actually responding to people on the letters page tota...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB
I just wish some people would pull their heads out of the sand once and for all and abandon WOS entirely. This latest stunt by Lee just shows what a plonker he really is. At least he's slowing the site down so much now with all his bloaty "improvements" that it may encourage others to seek...

Boilerhouse by Front Runner (https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96&id=614) currently has the front of the instruction leaflet down as the inlay whereas the proper inlay has the name of the game on the spine and is one of those clamshell type affairs. The illustration is credited to St...

BBC Archive: Sir Clive Sinclair shows off the latest Spectrum computer
Just had an email about the new BBC archive website and then found this whilst having a look at some of the clips. Funny to see Sir Clive talking up the games aspect when all I've got in my mind is Alexander Armstrong wearing a bald cap screaming about Jet Set F***ing Willy in Micro Men when the top...

I'm not sure about "not adding much" as I think you've pretty much solved the mystery! ;) That first link has adidas Championship Football and adidas Golden Shoe going to the same entry. The second link has adidas Golden Shoe as an alternative name for adidas Championship Football. On that...

Re: Judge Dredd, the recovered version, not in SC database?
Spooky! I was looking at this just last night because I was trying to see if there was ever a Ricochet re-release of the Melbourne House game like there was on the C64 (there wasn't, apparently... or at least I couldn't find any signs of one). Anyway, just thought I'd add a link to the original WOS ...

Re: Little bugs in the database
Whilst I agree about Beach Volley, Inspector Gadget etc I'd still stick with the original publisher as Ocean, Melbourne House etc as they would have licensed them to Erbe, even if they chose not to publish the games themselves in the UK. They were the ones who produced the games and originally adver...

I can help with Scramble Spirits. Here's the bottom left of the manual... https://i.imgur.com/btPoWnA.jpg You can sort of make it out on the actual cover of the game but they slapped the SEGA logo over it. Likewise, it's slightly visible (when you know where to look) on the adverts in the mags too b...
