@Ralf Hipsters are posers and false alternatives, the kind of people that would post here despite not even knowing how a Spectrum is made just because retro is "vintage" and therefore cool :P
I had a MK14 before build it at home kits were mainstream, man!

Re: A curious joystick

It was enough to make Amstrad users jealous... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKXU6FOW9t0 I have an almost empty Tipp-Ex bottle and some Blu tac right here! In other news, the joystick in OP looks only slightly less flimsy than the 'Sinclair' (Amstrad really) SJS1 https://i.ebayimg.com/image...

Re: Flagrant Disregard For The Law In Games

Gunfright was set in a fairly lawless town. Such was its 'town not big enough for the two of us' vibe, the sheriff only faced one bad guy at a time. (O/T - Was Gunfright an early example of 'boss rush' games?)

Re: The best Speccy game by Softek: vote

Haven't played any of these but I find it ironic that Tim Langdell was so sh*t hot on his rights to the word 'Edge', but clearly spent his early days in software shitting on everyone else's IP by cloning them for profit.

Ninja edit: the automatic profanity filter here appears to be fucked.

I'll kick this off with a vote for Bobby Bearing. Fairlight never impressed me that much. But as Pete says, pretty much already a foregone conclusion I expect.

Re: What are the "lost" Ultimate arcade games?

Another clue perhaps - I just fired up MAME and ran the Grasspin ROM and it runs off the blueprnt.cpp driver, which means the hardware will have been almost, if not completely. identical to Blueprint's. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean they had the same authors (though @MrCyan 's stirling wo...

Re: Which coin-op classics still need a good Speccy version?

Yeah, I would love to see a good ZX version of Circus Charlie. On the other hand, I think we are lucky enough to already have a really good version of Mr. Do We do? I mean, I'm sure we do because you say so but obviously I'm unaware of it... https://vintageisthenewold.com/mr-do-zx-spectrum-remake-r...

Re: Did I miss something yesterday?

I've 'bigged up' (is that still a thing? ) this place a few times over on /r/zxspectrum, but none correlate to the recent spikes. Odd stuff and definitely interested to know what has driven it.. But we all know it'll ultimately be something really mundane!
Place your bets..
