Caught ths a couple of days ago in my feed, a great video with a lot of interesting insights and some fantastic graphics (not the Gameboy ones!) - got me to subscribe to the channel anyway.

Happy New Year everyone! I'm not making any resolutions, other than to do absolutely everything better next year. I think @Ralf's artwork from 2019 deserves another mention. https://stonechatproductions.co.uk/zxgames/gameimages/RalfHNYSCRLoading.gif Haven't been there in a while, but last thing I k...

Daley Thompsons is just so much more iconic than anything else on the list. Hunchback was an early spectrum title that fascinated at the time, but hasn't aged well.

Re: UK units dispatched!!!

For those who received their NETX's today did you get an email with Tracking details? I've not received anything yet and nothing in my spam folder either. Saying that, the Kickstarter post said that ALL UK backers should get an email by tomorrow evening so maybe I'm just further down the list or he...

Re: Which year did you get your first Spectrum?

Xmas day 1983, so coming up on 40 years next month. I have reason to believe all these years later that it might have been one of the ones that went 'missing' that year. My dad was in flooring sales at the time and happened to mention at the time one of his customers had one 'under the counter' that...

Re: Spectrum namedrops...

Think I mentioned it in a another thread a while back, but my boss at Arrow electronics (component distributor) 20 years ago was part of the team at TI in the early 80's that brokered the 'binned parts' RAM deal on the original machine that ultimately helped keep its price down. RAM that was suppose...

Re: Castle Escape

Agree with Nitrowing . The Next should have been limited to the same colour palette as the original machines, but with attribute limitations removed so that everything could be coloured on a pixel by pixel basis. A lot of the Next titles look generically like A500/Atari ST titles, and it's not great...

Re: What does your alias mean?

If it's not already obvious to a lot of people, mines a reference to the UK comedy show "The I.T. Crowd". I fell in love with it when Moss was laughing at a PCB, and Jen asked what he was laughing about. His response was something along the lines of "Some joker has only routed the dat...

1. DD2
2. DD1
3. Robert Maxwell's Yacht Simulator (but that game sunk without a trace)

Re: Rod Bowkett and Steve Crow

Just to chip in quickly with the little I know - Rod Bowkett did the two Dynamite Dan games as an aside to his work as a (math teacher|| musician) - I don't recall which exactly, then left gaming - a waste in my opinion, clear talent from the off - but as long as he is happy.. Last thing I knew Stev...

That rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow is slightly off key.

This thread is leading me to the dawning realisation that my ability to just filter out any and all annoying background noise is due primarily to growing up playing games on the Speccy.

RIP Uncle Clive. ...But it's one hell of a legacy you've left us all. Re: RIP Sir Clive

As with everyone else here, we wouldn't be on this forum if not for Sir Clive. He set many of us on our paths in tech careers and I think was a bit of a visionary, even though his commercial success was a bit lacking sometimes. I remember as a 10 year old in '84 with my Speccy, my Grandad banging on...

Re: Do you remember the first time?

My Xmas 1983 ZX Spectrum didn't get played until I got home from our Xmas trip to Bournemouth (yeah we were posh, it went downhill from there I think) that year, and was via a trip to High Barnet WH Smith. I chose Paul Owens KONG by Ocean Software as my first title, and with time it's aged poorly of...

Alien 8 is essentially a re-skinned Knight Lore if that counts (same developer though).
