Re: ZX Spectrum +3 keyboard
Tried the baby wipe technique, although the keyboard and membrane is now clean, unfortunately it didn't work. To eliminate the zx-vga joy from being the problem going to order a scart cable.

ZX Spectrum +3 keyboard
Before xmas I took a punt on a zx spectrum +3 over facebook and it arrived after 2 weeks with the power cord snipped. Screenshots showed the boot menu, so assumed it was working. Anyhow, I had bought spectranet clone, and zx vga joy as well as an rs232 cable with the intention of working on a port o...

Re: Specchums and the coronavirus.
If you can smell the membrane of a 35 year old 48k spectrum you don't have the CoViD.

Re: Games behaving differently on the Next
Fascinating, but when you think about it 50/60Hz issue was always going to be a problem. Great explanation as well.

Re: Homebrew authors vs Walkthroughs
Pretty sure the whys and wherefores were covered on the other thread. Whether it offends your sensibilities or tweaks your temperament about the why, it's not hard to wait two weeks to have your needs met as well as the author's.

Spectrum Show Mag
The spectrum show gets a lot of deserved love, but the spectrum show magazine (http://www.thespectrumshow.co.uk/Magazines.aspx) seems to go past unreported despite being free, very well written and absorbing. If you haven't, check out the most recent edition. Good articles on adventures, microdrives...

Way too easy. Shiboleth.
I stand by R-Type and Captain Blood. But I am teasing you with Rainbow Islands which is one of my favourite Speccy muck about games

Re: The screenshots look good, but it's a terrible game
Dreadful bilge. :o But it was very lucky that Bob Pape's technical skill came together with Mark Jones's graphical brilliance. I think the game is a lot more than graphics, but if they weren't as perfect as they are, say more cartoony like BLAM , we wouldn't be speaking of it so fondly. That is per...

Re: The screenshots look good, but it's a terrible game
R Type is an R Tape loading error of a game. Technically brilliant in many ways (although not by modern Speccy standards) but it's just a terrible game. It's so freakin full, jerky, slow. I love R Type on pretty much every other platform bar the C64, and at the time I told myself when I was a kid th...

No hype, not massive on self promotion. When something gets finished it gets released.
I think 2 will get finished first, we shall see. Pretty clear in what I wrote that it's difficult to be a completer finisher.
If I give up, I'll make the GitHub repos public.

Re: What are your current ZX Spectrum projects/games that you are working on?
Two projects across four platforms so it's taking an age and I have so little time. 1. An arcade adventure based on a sci fi universe and presently dodgy enemy AI. 2. A multiplayer exploration game based on RS232 or TCP/IP connections between two or more computers with the gamestate held on GCP for ...

Re: Head over Heels back on Steam
What someone believes Vs what the truth of the matter is can vary considerably. People tend to be self serving in their public statements, it's a natural cognitive bias.
