Re: ZX-VGA-JOY and M30 Bluetooth controller

I had similar concerns using a 9pin wireless RF dongle for a Retrobit Saturn controller with a DivMMC Future. It works fine on a 48K, but it seems to make the DivMMC a bit unstable on my toastrack. As in, the NMI will often crash the machine requiring a full power down. Perhaps it draws a bit too mu...

I did always wonder how these were done, so yes I will have to muddle my way through this.

Re: Hull-Dobell theorem for procedural generation/screen fades etc.

This sounds quite interesting but it's beyond my comprehension. Any chance of some example screen dissolves as gif attachments for the idiots in the cheap seats?

Re: C5 cautionary tale

I ride an e-bike in London now, since I need to transport two kids and it's about twice as fast as a car for most journeys as congestion has got so bad. I got rid of the car. I was just thinking the other morning that this was effectively Clive's vision. How it could have all been so different... Bu...

Re: Super Sonic Bros. Fast scrolling platform game which tries to not look like a ZX game

I used your technique of "moving" only attribute memory, and leaving static graphic vertical bars on the bitmap screen. Here is my demo, programed in pure Basic, moving colors data using defadd trick. As you can see, the scroll is in 4pixels increments: https://i.postimg.cc/GBcZ83PP/pru4p...

Re: Chesskelet revamped - 269 bytes

I for one really enjoyed reading Arkannoyed 's thread in which the compact chess graphics engine was refined. I recall I read it on a flight with wifi. The data rate was awful but just allowed some forum reading and that thread was captivating. Would be amazing to see it paired with a game engine an...

Re: Games so hard you take a picture....

I never had this game back in the day, but I played it a lot on my Gameboy Advance using ZXAdvance emulator. Cropping the screen to fit on the smaller GBA screen didn't matter for this title but I was drawn to its hard-as-nails gameplay and technically accomplished graphics. Can't remember if I even...

Congratulations on a very well made video. It's always fun to discover a familiar topic from a different perspective. Re: Is Sinclair Basic 100% compatible with ZX Boriel BASIC compiler?

It's worth noting that a compiler is never going to be able to deal with things like calculated line numbers. This is a favourite of mine for level data. 10 LET Level=1 20 GOSUB 2000:REM draw the level 30 ... 2000 RESTORE (8000+Level*100) 2010 FOR A=1 TO 4 2020 READ A$:PRINT A$ 2030 NEXT A 2040 RET...

I typed up a game from Sinclair Programs as a lad that featured just such a tedious death march made of a page of BEEP statements, and a screen full of gravestones. Perhaps you had too. You had to catch falling canonballs in a boat.
