If voting ends on a tie between these games, then we should disqualify both and declare Elite as the winner!

It would be the only sensible thing to do, obviously.
Absolutely.. :D

Re: What makes you continue your Spectrum interest?

I dragged out the Speccy the other week. It had been a while but fortunately there weren't a hoard of system updates to download and install before I could use it. ;) Anyway I tried loading a couple of games from tape. Trashman failed to load (but only right at the end of the loading code... ...

Re: Moving a 2x2 pixel 'ball' around the screen

Cheers, 50p and a pack of Rolos in the post. The Balachor games' sprite movement is 4 pixels at a time, except the missiles you shoot which are 8, but they're supposed to go fast. We tried varieties of 1 and 2 pixel movement with Balachor's Revenge but as already mentioned, it was either: - to...

Yes, 2 pixel movement is so much easier, looks just as smooth.

Re: Game of the day...

Cripes, have you got that far? I struggle to get to the second level nowadays. Weird how you have to build a door to get off a level... This was one of the earliest games I played. I quite enjoyed it at the time. The only issue I have with it is that it's easy to be caught out when it scrolls ...

Yes, Balachor's given up his quest for world domination to play ping pong....

Very sensible if you ask me...

Went for Elite.

Emlyn Hughes in second place.

I don't think Exolon has aged well at all, it was quite good, fairly slick game back in its time but I find it a bit tedious to play now.

Re: Moving a 2x2 pixel 'ball' around the screen

ld a,b ;x coord: three lowest bits=pixel position (0-7) within cell and %00000111 ;isolate them. A now holds the number of shifts. Ah - that's it. Those two sodding lines. I knew it would be simple... Oh, man. It's just 4 pixels, use rom plot ;) Heheh.. Or maybe a zig-zagging DRAW routine... :)

Moving a 2x2 pixel 'ball' around the screen

...OK so this has got to be really simple, but I'm a bit rusty. A 2 pixel by 2 pixel (square) ball. Moving 1 pixel at a time. Can be going horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The vertical movement is OK - position = screen row and screen row + 1 pixel line. What's the simplest way of doing the l...

I suppose the lame way is to make the rope a straight line but it seems that most game do better than that.
Ah yeah, Hunchback did that didn't it?

Of course there's always Juan's favourite, Jungle Fever...
