Re: Like a buss I wanted a Spectrum and ended up with 3

I'm suspicious there seems to be a lot of expert retro sites that sell psu's that look very similar to what you would find on Aliexpress
I might try and find multi voltage adapter that follows your recommendations, that provides 9v @ 2 amps or more outputting center negative.

Thank you kindly

Like a buss I wanted a Spectrum and ended up with 3

I dont know why I do these things and its probably best not to try and figure it out! But now I have a Harlequin, ZX 48+ and a Grey +2 all without power.

What are my best options, I would prefer to invest in a known good quality power supply with plenty of room, if extra current is needed.

Re: What differences in programming Spectrum and CPC

Some brilliant points and very clearly stated. I am starting to grasp that it is not necessarily the machine but the community that surrounds it, a community that has not shown any aggression or disrespect. This is exactly the reason I have shied away from the C64, which like the spectrum is a great...

What differences in programming Spectrum and CPC

I know they have the same Z80 and later the same sound chips but how different are they when programming and can programs be ported from one to the other easily? do the differences stop between the basic programming languages? what advantages for one over the other?

Re: New to ZX Spectrum what are my hardware options

Thanks for the information, I have bought a ZX +3 grey from eBay I cant afford £150 for a known working machine so I will need to get a new psu and more than likely some hardware repairs. Keep your finger crossed for me  I'm quite excited, the spectrum looks like a great opportunity to underst...

Extremely impressive what can be done in such a small amount of memory just goes to show how much is wasted within a PC.

Re: General Election

Perhaps a political satire game? maybe mix The Prisoner in for good measure! or just have Characters popping up like the Prince Charles Dalek in Head over Heels, I only wish that I kept using my C64 or ST and learnt to program, instead I spent the next few years trying to get my PC ruining solid, ne...

Re: ZX81 work with a Spectrum keyboard

£86 spondoolies my G@% I just bought a Rainbow Bluetooth with cherry keys that lights up from ebay for £20. Although the Memotech case is quite smart :rol: is that the going rate?

ZX81 work with a Spectrum keyboard

I have ZX81 sitting doing nothing because I could not get used to the keyboard and replacements are thin on the ground. I have noticed on eBay empty ZX Spectrum cases, are they compatible with the ZX81?

Thanks

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello I never met the man himself and had no idea about his interests, fascinating. I can vaguely remember a bloke named Chris who originated from London, was running it not long before it closed. I cant remember the year but it was when the Atari Falcon, A1200 and Amstrad GX4000 came out, in fairne...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Here goes Hello from North Wales near to the supposedly sunny Rhyl anyone from my neck of the woods remembers the local computer shop Joe Micro? long gone I never had a Spectrum growing up and sorry to say I never gave the machine a chance, this was my loss. By the time I even heard about ZX Spectru...
