Excellent poll thank you (as always)
It was a very tough choice as at least half a dozen of those stand out (to me) as being exceptional games.

This topic does make me curious to see (old picture if buildings have been destroyed aka Software Projects*** is now a Tesco or similar) for MikroGen / Bug-Byte etc.

Yes basically (no pun) that's it. Load it at 23760 instead. Suspect because that's so low (not bothered to try) it would otherwise fall over.Lee P wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 10:59 pm An old post from Spider might help here:

Re: Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy no longer available
Lots of random things I've heard over the years, both likely some fact and some fiction in them, what with the internet being so erm "factually accurate on everything" etc. I've never raised the issue with either author actually, but that is a moot point perhaps. To be honest my only view ...

Thank you as always for these.
I suspected it would be a "close one" with two or three of the contenders in this.

Re: Enhanced ZX Speccy Emulator
Would not a Sam Coupe (or a modern FPGA implementation of such) provide a slightly better graphical output (no clash in one speccy mode) for your needs ?
And by using a 48K rom/emulator within most 48K games should run, in theory.

Re: Manic Miner: The Lost Levels
I have updated the download to include the DS version and updated the readme and cassette label files as well. Thank you. :) The quest goes on, there was a comment from Spider about the Sam Coupe version that had another 40 levels!! This is well underway. It was on my 'eventual' to-do list but its ...

Re: Manic Miner: The Lost Levels
I quite enjoyed playing them. :) So thank you (again) Amstrad Final Barrier is quite hard for timing but I found the rest quite straightforward and its good to see a couple of BBC levels too on our Speccies. :) EDIT... I'm referring to the file submission game/set not the ones attached the other top...

I haven't disassembled this at all, but I have a script to generate skeleton Skoolkit projects - so I've thrown it up here; https://skoolkit.arcadegeek.co.uk/moonlightmadness/ It lacks any knowledge of what's data and what's code - but I will say that it doesn't especially feel like it is the same ...

Re: Purely theoretical ROM swap
Thanks all. I knew it had been tried (or highly likely it had) Was not able to use an emulator yesterday and yes I could of waited I suppose but thought I'd ask ;) that's the only reason why I did not try myself. Its good it "got so far" in some respects I suppose. I knew it would not full...

Purely theoretical ROM swap
As title, consider it a "question from the curious" , I'm half sure its been tried or thought of. In theory what would happen to a 16/48 Spectrum if you replaced the ROM with a (the official last one) ZX81 ROM ? And vice-versa , a Spectrum ROM into the ZX81 ? Would either way get very far ...

No - the sub game isn't in the SAM version. The game's available on Sam Revival issue 20. More details of the game: https://www.worldofsam.org/products/booty Thank you. I'll see about watching a video or two of this (bound to be some floating about on YT or suchlike) and I'll buy if I like what I s...

Re: First tape/games you got with your ZX Spectrum
For me , the original new 48K from the Co-Op came with the Sinclair Six Pack: Chequered Flag / Make A Chip / Scrabble / Horace Goes Skiing / Survival / Chess , and obviously Horizons in the box itself. I do note some later "six packs" had Tasword and/or VU3D in them instead, this was likel...

Chequered Flag v1 and v2
Curious. ;) :) Game page here for convenience Does anyone know if there's any (real) difference between the two variants of this ? The English releases anyway, the Spanish language version is based on V2 Aside from in V2 the "main loop" as it were is sort of a lot higher up in memory and t...

I think John Smyth was responsible for a fair few of them, I did think Ray Owen did some but I sort of now think he did the nice loading screens. John recalls: "Despite my absolute ignorance of computers (I only bought one about three years ago) I found myself designing game covers for Mastertr...

Plus 2A/B External Tape Input
The black models. The tape player does actually work reasonably well however I am thinking a little bit of creatively and preventative medicine as such. Not wanting an external 'modern' device at the moment. My TCM939 does a sterling job despite its age now (and difficulty in finding the belt but th...

Re: WTD : Mastertronic Adventures
Its the only pf the Magic Knight 128K games that are very rare, and hard to find :| I think Spellbound is the most difficult one to get in its 128K version (I do see 48K ones sometimes) as it was an early game available in 128K format, and maybe (guess) most owners still had 48K machines. At least ...
