Re: Play Expo Blackpool

Not only did I meet R-Tape , he'll be in a Reheated Pixels video, hopefully out by the end of the week. Also played on the Spectrum Next for the first time. Jim Bagley had me on Baggers In Space. I wasn't very good at it... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EG3urbrWkAAugcu?format=jpg&name=large https://pb...

Re: The best Speccy game by Mastertronic's brands: discussion

from the Facebook Mastertronic Collectors Group: Planet 10 - update. This game that was released for the Spectrum on the MAD £2.99 label around Sept/Oct 1989 and has seemingly eluded everyone in the history of games collecting ever has done so for good reason - it was never actually released. I spo...

Re: The best Speccy game by Mastertronic's brands: discussion

I don’t know if it would be better to split these labels off into separate polls? It seems unfair having to pick one game over all of the labels, as each one had a few absolute gems, especially as at one point Mastertronic owned Melbourne House (which had its own discussion) and was then latterly o...

Re: The best Speccy game by Mastertronic's brands: discussion

A fascinating company. I wish that (scam) Kickstarter had actually produced a book about the company. This one The Mastertronic Archives Oh yes, I'm more upset about that turning into a scam than I was about the Vega+! I really really love Mastertronic and I'd have snapped up that book. It needs to...

Re: The best Speccy game by Mastertronic's brands: discussion

Virgin Games's full price efforts became the focus in 1990. The last gasps of Mastertronic would be as 'Tronix', their final brand, resorting solely to rereleasing Virgin Games at a budget price, such as Golden Axe, Silkworm, Viz (the license of an adult humour comic which Richard Branson had a sta...

Re: The best Speccy game by Mikro-Gen: discussion

Drakmaze wasn't released: http://www.tzxvault.org/time.htm Wow, I never knew this! Normally I spot these things, looking out for any 'MIA' status, but in this case, it does actually exist to download. I had no idea of this back story, and as you absolutely right, this will be excluded from the poll...

Re: The best Speccy game by Mikro-Gen: discussion

This is the list I've come up with... For some reason these alphabetical lists just do not work for me. A chronological list on the other hand... Well, it's already time consuming for me to put them together. I've literally put in hours of work just to come up with the Mastertronic shortlists today...

The best Speccy game by Mastertronic's brands: discussion

Okay, there's no easy way to break this down. This is going to be (and should be) a huge discussion topic. Mastertronic was a highly prolific publisher of pocket-money-priced software on the ZX Spectrum and other 8-bit platforms (as well as a brief foray into the 16-bit era). It could be argued they...
