Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with P: discussion

Pac-Land: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96&id=3577 nothing special but I recall some people like it I'm baffled. The only people I know who like it, like the arcade version, or indeed pretty much ANY version other than the Spectrum. I include myself in this. The bodged conversion of...

Re: [insert game name here] would have been great if only you could....

To state the bleedin' obvious, ZX Spectrum Pac Land should have been scrolling, not flip-screen.

Double Dragon would have been better if the conversion popped out of 6 Central Street, Manchester.

And the vast majority of Speccy games would have been better with a level editor.

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with O: vote

Do you find letter 'O' weird/bad/whatever? Wait till letter 'Q' (only two threads away) or 'X'! :D Ah, but with computer games, X can be fairly common (unlike with regular subjects). Back in the day, I had YS's Tipshop Tiptionary, which at the time for me was the longest alphabetical list of Spectr...

i suppose it has the best graphics and movement in only 48k in a Spectrum.
I raise you Chase HQ and WEC Le Mans.

I'm abstaining for the moment, but I will probably vote like you for Out Run. It's annoying, because on nearly all the 8-bits, it plays like a brick.

Re: Which games really pushed the Speccy?

Rex has quite a lot of sprites on screen plus bullets, explosions effects, particles from explosion so it's definitely more advanced than typical platformer. Just play it and decide yourself if it pushes Spectrum to the limit ;) The simply beautiful graphics. Richly defined, the best I've seen in th...
