Re: Is Sinclair Basic 100% compatible with ZX Boriel BASIC compiler?
Hisoft BASIC Compiler seems to handle some calculated jumps. Maybe others compilers too, no idea. Reading the manual: Yes it can be done and basically you could end with something that is in between straight to assembly compilation and transpilation to a bytecode that could cover all constructs ava...

Re: How I find [CENSORED] game
Exactly. You need to be much more careful nowadays than before. About copyrights. About porn. About racism. About religion. About slightiest possibility of offending anyone with content you publish. Imagine some dumb mommy learning that teacher of her kids hosts porn games on his website. Doesn't m...

Re: How I find [CENSORED] game
Ok thanks. I just wonder, would it be possible to list games without any media? Basically my problem was that I noticed a game missing when I searched by publisher So I was wondering what happened. Eventually I have found out the title is censored and found link on zxart. I imagine this [censored] t...

I can do that, if you provide the screen. (and you are not really dependent on me, there is probably dozens of SC users who could do that).

Re: Help with Turbo Imploder and similar Spectrum programs
I have translated it to English, except from the opening screen, because it's a compressed image. I have tried many Windows compression programs for the Spectrum. I have found similarities when the compression algorithm is LZSS, but the result it not identical. So, I will have to try many old Spect...

Re: Help with Turbo Imploder and similar Spectrum programs
I know that ZX0 is not a native packer, but why is that problem ? It is complicated, probably the best native compressors are ex-ussr late 90s packers. But they are usually written with BetaDisk in mind and only few have a tape version. I think one version of Hrust supports tape. I quite like Mr.Pac...

1) set RAMTOP bellow data you want to compress 2) load your data 3) load TI by LOAD""CODE 16384: RANDOMIZE USR 16384 (Turbo imploder runs in screen area to free memory for your data) 4) enter START address, LENGTH, and address to jump after decompression CALL (if you want to return to BASI...

@mrcook I wonder, since you mentioned DOS version closely follows z80 version, what are yours feeling about 86 instruction set when you compare it to Z80 ?

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Jim Bagley): vote
I don't quite understand what is Bagley's share on Throne of fire. And should we count titles when author just did some additional works ? I'm not meaning it in bad way I just wonder if he really thinks about the game as his work. Perhaps, to give an example - my name is on 13 titles but for two 2 o...

Re: Why no Puzzle Bobble port for Spectrum?
Yes, colour clash may be a problem here but Cannon Bubble manages to deal with it. Speaking of similar games, nobody did Zuma for Spectrum, probably exactly due to problems with colour clash. https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/3330/0000000522.600x338.jpg?t=1627918693 It is not only about...

Re: Stunt car racer for super cpu
One thing that could be fun is to rewrite Freescape to be cpu speed agnostic and attach data from various games. At least, there is not only sixtet of original games but also about ten or so homebrew games authored in 3D Construction Kit.

Re: Stunt car racer for super cpu
Commodore's SuperCpu is 65816 clocked up to 20MHz i.e. you will get clock x20, 16bit accumulator instead of 8bit and 24bit addresss space. Not like all this is needed to speed up old game. On other side, we have Z80 at 7 or 14 MHz (I'm not sure if 28MHz is a thing, last time I was interested in supe...

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Jullian Gollop): discussion
I prefer Chaos just because gameplay in hot seat mode is much more fluent than in Laser Squad or Lords of Chaos. Not like LS or LoC are bad games. But succesful raising of Golden Dragon from death and watching faces of my friends was so much fun. Besides, I really love sound effects in Chaos. Chaos ...

Re: Devfinitive Edition (David Perry): vote
Dave Perry's late games are visually outstanding but they feel too much confined. With two exceptions: SMASH TV - It delivers lot of action, all in color and the posibility to branch your way through map gives much needed feel of big space. TMHT - It is a perfect fan service from start to the end. I...

Zombi - Dawn of the dead I'm suspecting Sabreman is inspired by Indiana Jones. Also Fred of Fred has a fedora and revolver. Honestly, the number of action archeologists/explorers in 8bit games is quite high. Phantis plays like Star Wars fan fiction. Astro Marine Corps and After The War are definitel...

Re: Elaborate death in games
I like death animation in Bombscare. A dustpan and brush materialize out of air and promptly remove remains of your robot. What a technology, I would use something similar at home.
