Re: What is the best routine for graphics compression?

One thing I would really like to try one day is proper context -> prediction -> range coder packer. I mean using pixels on west, north-west,north to form a 3-bit context and kind of range coder. It would be inevitably slow (I did some estimations and for 8-bit probabilities multiplying 16-bit limit...

Re: 'Dixel' scrolling... Ghosts 'n' Goblins

This is things in the foreground moving horizontally, rather than the entire background - but you can get pretty fast and furious, and deal with different speeds, when you scroll preshifted stuff. As long as you have the space to store all the different versions. I've gone 128K-only here for that r...

Re: What is the best routine for graphics compression?

black-flag-deck: I couldn't find this by name, but i suspect it's half empty or overly regular. Indeed, it is. As i planned to make a compressor for an arbitrary rectangular area Ah, it is pitty you didn't. The benchmarks for full screen Are intetesting but I think for in-game graphics, smaller pic...

I'm probably the only one who actually like Chuckie Egg 2!!! 1 - Chuckie Egg 2 2 - Chuckie Egg 3 - Not played any of the others :shock: :shock: :shock: Not really. I have wasted hours playing Chucking Egg 2. I was never much into JSW or Dynamite Dan, instead I enjoyed exploring of CHE2. It Is reall...

I have tried Phantis (MAC):

zx7(ordered by columns) -> 6546
exomizer(ordered by columns) -> 6305

Re: Short beeper routines in assembly

Hi. By any chance, does anyone have idea how to produce a metal (ish) sound on beeper ? Something like when two swords clash each other. I cannot afford sample due memory limits. I don't have a routine, but the helmet sound when you die in Firelord might be a good one to steal borrow... I know what...
