Re: New WoS and ZXDB

1. Gather some really short and strong facts together in one place (sticky-topic here on forum?). 2. Every time you meet new accusations or old myths, just leave the comment with link. This way Lee will have to spend more efforts for slandering than you for defenses. These are great ideas. This sou...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

Fogarty: Ok, time to clear this up. After god knows how many pages of discussions, nobody from ZXDB has contacted me at all. Fogarty says: "Nobody from ZXDB has contacted me at all". But I see 22 posts from Einar in one thread "New WOS and ZXDB" in the Updates channel, which is the same channel Fog...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

He took ZXDB, ignores any attempt to resolve this matter and I’m sure he laughs at all of us and feels untouchable. He can laugh as much as he likes. The community around ZXDB gets better every day, with no backwards steps. ZXDB is up-to-date, freely downloadable, multiple sites based on it, each p...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

Lee Fogarty from WoS Facebook Group: ... From what I can make out, the claim is that we are using the ZXDB database. Totally untrue - the WoS db was created a long time before - using the original data files. The claim is: the current version of WoS is showing data that wasn't in Martijn's WoS data...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

Lee Fogarty I think it needs clearing up exactly what "created by" means. And another reason the data has to go is some of the changes are dubious or un-needed. This is why WoS always wanted to credit people submitting changes, and list them on the whats new page. From what I can make out, the clai...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

PHP-FPM can be used instead of mod_php. Mod_php is an Apache extension that put the full PHP runtime into each Apache child process. I don't think SC uses PHP-FPM, but HHVM instead. Which is a facebook-optimised PHP runtime. But you still need some http server, whether it is FPM or mod_php. And it ...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

2. PHP-FPM cannot be used instead of Apache. It can be used with Apache OR with nginx (or with any other web server). Am I wrong with this one? PHP-FPM can be used instead of mod_php. Mod_php is an Apache extension that put the full PHP runtime into each Apache child process. I don't think SC uses ...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

So I just don't see how serving files through PHP-FPM and then through Apache can be more effective than just through Apache. I'm not telling something is slow here, just wanted to clarify. Apache concurrency is limited to how many child processes you are running. 10 child processes, 10 concurrent ...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

For the record, I have recently received some communications. For the record, no-one from the WoS admin team has responded fully to Einar's concerns in the same manner Einar raised them. And that same team is quite content to slander Einar and his work at every turn. That same team can pull its fin...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

Note: SC doesn't use Apache to serve up static assets, and I believe it's using PHP-FPM -- which is why SC is still quick loading when dealing with traffic levels multiple times higher than what currently takes WoS down. Is it really so? As far as I can see, at least logo (which is a truely static ...
