I was unable to enjoy full 3D games like Driller on Spectrum. They were just too slow, with framerate of one or two frames per second.

But yes, I can imagine it was impressive when it was released. Maybe more impressive to watch for a moment than actually play it ;)

goblinish, it looks like you like to convert old Polish logical games for Spectrum... First Rogue, now Spych.

The author name - "Paweі Sіawiсski" seems Polish to me but could be Russian as well, yet some letters are probably wrong here, could you check it?

Some info after reading the Russian thread: - it's currently in Russian only but English version is promised to appear in the future - some bugs are currently present too (like respawning in weird locations or going through walls), the author promises to deal with them - it's not a mod, many graphic...
