Re: Starchess

Okay. In such case I would store this original version as it is and make a "bugfix version" which would correct loader issue and add some very simple first loader which would do:

LOAD "" SCREEN
LOAD ""

Re: Starchess

Nice find! A Basic game which very decent graphics that doesn't feel Basic at all. Some comments from a preservation point: -tape image seems not to be 100% perfect. The first loader doesn't load at all in Spectaculator so loading screen doesn't load too and the correct loading starts with instructi...

Re: More Multicolour - Trailblazer Roadway

Very impressive!
(okay, only if you know Spectrum limitations ;) )

Just please don't leave it as standalone effect.

If you don't feel like doing a full game with it, maybe do a demo (in demoscene meaning).
Add some scroll with greetings, some music, some bouncing ball and voila!

Re: TZX format specification

You can watch the old documement through Web Archive, for example: https://web.archive.org/web/20191028200053/https://worldofspectrum.org/TZXformat.html And as far as I remember the format wasn't updated for years. At some moment people wanted different directions of development and got into a stale...

Re: What do you now know many years later

Quite recently I read a comment that Clive Sinclair becoming sir Clive Sinclair wasn't as big, exceptional deal as sometimes presented. Clive was knighted ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_Bachelor ). "Knight" is the lowest possible rank in all this aristocracy system. It doesn't pass to your c...

Re: Build your dream computer

Well, if I could use any 8bit computer I would probably use some latest and most advanced one like Sam Coupe or MSX 2. Sorry Zx Spectrum ;) I would probably want to build something as cool as possible, using standards from 1989, not 1982. It would have nice resolution and palette. It would have hard...

Re: What do you now know many years later

8 is transparent / unchanged - so if you do PRINT INK 7; PAPER 8; "SOMETHING", the text will have white INK but the existing PAPER colour of each cell will remain unchanged
Wouldn't it be the same as simply PRINT INK 7; "SOMETHING" ?

Re: What do you now know many years later

For many years I believed Speccy is prounounced like Lucy, not like Becky ;) With "si" at the end.

This name wasn't used in Poland where I live. I only learnt it through internet and saw it written but never spoken.

Re: Whirlwind

Nice find! Quite a good quality for such an obscure game.

It seems at first glance to be a Manic Miner clone but it's actually more a puzzle. Rather hard, as people say.
