Re: Easier graphics on zx spectrum

Sure. Do it your way. Just remember that people always used the best tools and environments available at the moment. Amiga, Atari ST, early PCs, even Amstrad machines as they had disk drive and better keyboard. You could be surprised how many early classic Spectrum games were actually not created on...

Re: Game of the day...

There are tons of pool games for the Spectrum, but this is my fave one because it's simple to use and graphically correct. It can be surprisingly addictive. Yes, it's great. Simple but clear and very playable. Later people tried to add some features to these pool games. They even tried to do it in ...

Re: Easier graphics on zx spectrum

Do you want to create vector graphics (as you mentioned plot and draw) or pixel graphics?

Nowadays most people doing actual graphics for games etc. don't draw it on real Spectrum or in Spectrum emulator. They do with PC tools and then convert to desired Spectrum format.

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with I: vote

I would have predicted that (International) Match Day would have flown into the lead, surprised to see it lagging behind a bit. Match Day would be a serious candidate for me. But International Match Day??? I had a look and it doesn't seem like a valid, independent game for me, more like a quick hac...

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with I: vote

And I'm one of the guys who voted for Into the Eagles Nest . I'll try to say a bit more about it. Actually it's a game that I played quite a lot. It had a very good graphics, very colourful for Spectrum standards. It also had good difficulty level, which was quite rare in the 80s with all these insa...

Re: Double buffering on the Spectrum

Did Joffa Smith ever talk about or write on how he wrote his games?
He made some comments here and there but not very detailed.
In my opinion he was generally a very modest man. He would probably say you that all his tricks were nothing special and not worth to get excited about.

Re: Double buffering on the Spectrum

Hi Giorgio! Welcome to the forums! This discussion about floating bus is certainly very interesting. I would have one advice to beginner programmers however. Don't mess with with floating bus ;) It's a rather advanced trick. Joffa games were generally a piece of quite sophisticated code. A "normal",...
