Hi Mark, quick update. I pulled the Z80 from the +3 and popped it in a working +2 and got the same checkerboard result. I placed the working Z80 and got a black screen with a blue background. I recently received a VTX5000 Modem in a bundle of ZX Spectrum gear and wondered, is it at all possible to use this today?

Maybe wiring it up to some intermediary device and putting that on the net could be possible?
