Re: Not Sinclair per se but retro UK TV...

I'm a member of TVChaosUK and it is basically TheBox.bz with a new name. There are no invites - the whole invite system is disabled, they seem a little paranoid but I presume they have their reasons. Trouble Between The Covers is not there though. Well, I hope you don't get kicked out for revealing...

Re: Not Sinclair per se but retro UK TV...

@5MinuteRetro, BBC Archive is always worth a look. https://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/gaming/znqy6v4 Sure, thanks -- BBC Archive is a great site and I've used it plenty. But what I'm after here isn't related to Sinclair/gaming/computing... I guess I'm just bemoning the lack of 'retro' TV availability ge...

Re: Not Sinclair per se but retro UK TV...

Aye. I find it infuriating that even now stuff drops off BBC iPlayer after a month or a year. I mean why, for heavens sake? The BBC is commissioning original programming and I don’t believe it should be beyond the wit of those in charge to ensure that the streaming elements of the contracts are made...

Not Sinclair per se but retro UK TV...

I'm not an active member of any other online forums, and this anyway seems as good a place as any to ask. Do any of you folks remember and/or were members of TheBox.bz? It was a private tracker/torrent site for old British TV -- and a great way to find ancient programmes/series that tended not to ex...

Re: Let's see if I can beat Scrabble Deluxe on highest level then

I’d not heard of Scrabble Deluxe for the Spectrum. I wonder why it’s in black and white when the original had plenty of (and useful) colour? I’m sure some Googling would tell me but I’m currently warming myself by our fire pit in the garden and I can’t be bothered trying to figure it out on my iPhone.

Re: Wednesday 3 am quiz: Software houses by street view building

Great collection of images. Though I'm not sure how anyone is supposed to "guess" these if we don't already happen to know. Personally, I'd rather be given a list of the 9 answers so I can try and fit the buildings to the company based on style/scale. Reading the OP’s subsequent post I’m ...

Re: Wednesday 3 am quiz: Software houses by street view building

As a youngster I'd always imagined gleaming towers of industry. Most of these, especially number 5, are the sort of place when you find an especially cheap bit of kit of ebay, look up the posting address, and backoff cos it looks like a dodgy untraceable address. Me too, which is why, whenever I co...

Re: Wednesday 3 am quiz: Software houses by street view building

The picture shows nine Google Street View images of buildings where U.K. software houses that published Speccy games back in the day were situated. Can you guess the software houses? Well, for numero uno I'm guessing Anirog/Anco. However, if I were to be a pedant -- and I am -- that company's addre...

And Googling that 'secret number'... it looks like Timothy was selling his Coleco Adam (in the March 1985 edition of C&VG):

And there it is... (my memory just prompted me to look up the I, Ball walkthrough on YouTube). This is what you see when completing the game, which it's possible I did:

Re: Hidden message in Predator

This hidden message reveals information about the development of Predator. I couldn't find anything in this site so I thought I could post it. I used to delight in stumbling upon stuff like this. It felt like peeking behind the curtain. All context as to how or why forgotten, I remember finding a p...

Reminds me of this icon on the Firefly intro screen but I’m sure plenty of Spectrum games had similar icons here and there.

Re: Was Hannah Smith real?

Is this really still going? She is real. That’s just what a conspirator would say! (But joking aside, I’m a rational person. I don’t actually care much if at all about whether or not Hannah Smith was real. The weight of evidence sure points to the likelihood that she was real. But I don’t think any...
