Eek. That’s two in a row for me, so I’ll get to the back of the grid and let someone take pole position for the next lap.

Nope. Let’s zoom out some more. Any further could give it away, I reckon. I’d call this an early classic.

Terrible photography, but familiar nonetheless
Reminds me of this icon on the Firefly intro screen but I’m sure plenty of Spectrum games had similar icons here and there.

Re: Was Hannah Smith real?

Is this really still going? She is real. That’s just what a conspirator would say! (But joking aside, I’m a rational person. I don’t actually care much if at all about whether or not Hannah Smith was real. The weight of evidence sure points to the likelihood that she was real. But I don’t think any...

An AI ZX Spectrum...

I was just a bit bored, so I asked Copilot to "generate a mosaic-style photo of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer made of photos of other retro computers from the era". The result, to my eye at least, is rather attractive -- but it looks nothing like a real ZX Spectrum. But man, how great ...

Re: Bricks and Mortar shops...

I stumbled on this a while back. No idea who runs it or how up to date it is but you can use the Filters tab on the right to locate physical shops. It has a couple of shops in my local area that I know to be relatively recent and still trading, so I'd hope it's pretty accurate: https://retro.directo...

Impossible games...

So I stumbled upon this video tonight, of some chap managing to complete Dynamite Dan (DD) without cheating (well, other than using an initial save state, so he knew the layout of the otherwise-randomised items). I'm not sure who he is... he might even be a member here. Anyway, it's an incredible ef...

I went for a cheap, low-strength mass-market IPA, because that somehow felt appropriate. :)

Drink’s nice enough but the pub’s a bit soulless. :(

Sinclair-related Cambridge sights?

So I have a few hours to kill in Cambridge tomorrow, before going to see a show. I'm probably going to stop by the Centre for Computing History for perhaps the third or fourth time, because why not? And I'm going to have a pint and a polite brawl in the Baron of Beef, because I've not done that befo...

Re: Amstrad.co.uk...

Renewing your old domain out of pure sadness is not squatting. Well, that's my take -- there's no malicious intent behind me sitting on these old domains, and I'm definitely a bit sad. ;) Also, in the very unlikely event someone really wanted one of my dormant domains, I'd probably consider selling...

The more layers of bureaucratic bullsh*t, the easier to ACCIDENTALLY NOT DO IT. Do you remember when Microsoft lost microsoft.com? Someone bought it and transferred it to them for a laugh.
