Re: 3D Construction Kit games...

You may be interested in the 3D Construction Kit website which covers the initial 8-bit version of the software and the later 16-bit release. http://www.3dconstructionkit.co.uk/ Lots of interest there. Especially Mandy's fanzines which were the official user group publications. Thanks for the link!

Re: 3D Chess 2K18

Yeah, it's a bit small. I'd try to forgo masking all together and simply have a slightly bigger rectangle with the arrow inside.

Re: ZX Larry (Leisure Suit Larry remake)

One advantage of having a char-based cursor is that it's much quicker to fully 'explore' the screen, never liked point and click games where you had to 'hunt' pixels to make progress. I tried R-Tape's speed mod and it feels spot on to me. Also it would be nice being able to cancel using the joystick...

Re: Aliens: Neoplasma

Had a second playthrough today to get the other ending, shaved of 10 minutes from my previous run. I noticed that the 'dropping of jump inputs' I mentioned in my previous post only happens inside the cargo area where the Alien nest is (lots of goo on the floor). This led me to believe it's intention...

Re: Aliens: Neoplasma

As a fan of the Alien(s) franchise I had to give this a go. Took me just under an hour to complete and enjoyed it immensely. The graphics and sounds are drenched in a thick and brooding atmosphere that suits the source material perfectly. I really liked the exploratory nature of the gameplay and it ...

Re: Wonky

I have quite extensive tracing in the code which builds trace tables and acts much like a "flight recorder" allowing me to see what's happening. It's skipping every 4th frame, which makes perfect sense because the music plays a note every 4th frame. :) I took out the music player routine and replac...

Re: ZX Larry (Leisure Suit Larry remake)

A remake of one of my favourite old adventure games. :) Decent graphics, nice spot FX and remarkably faithful to the original, basically all the major puzzles are there. All in 48k, that's pretty impressive! The GUI was a bit clunky at first but I got used to it. Haven't completed Larry 1 in a few y...

Re: Wonky

Could it be that the game is running at 50hz without music but misses an occasional frame from time to time with music on? Have you timed it?
