Re: Yandex Retro Games Battle 2019

I've been playing Valley of Rains. Beautiful graphics, tight controls and really fun! Reminds me of Savage but much better. I've made it to level 6, anyone know how many there are? Just completed it! :D Took a fair few tries though (an auto-fire poke would've been nice). There are 8 levels. Had 3 l...

Re: Game art copied from elsewhere

Jim Steranko is a very accomplished comic book author, though that doesn't rule out he used a reference of some sort. The use of reference material is common in all fields but there are some artists that do without. If you're using a reference it's for angles, perspective, lighting and the sort. The...

Re: Yandex Retro Games Battle 2019

I've only had time to briefly try a few of the releases so far but I'm blown away already. The presentation of Drift! is mind-boggling, reminds me of something from the 32-bit console era. Gameplay seemed fun too. Yazzie by Denis is one I'll definitely play through to the end, looked good, felt and ...

Re: Arcade1Up 3/4 Scale Cabinets in Smyths

They should've stuck Ms. Pac-Man instead of Plus on there, guess they want to do a dedicated cab for that, more money and so on.

Pac Manic Miner Man doesn't sound half bad. :P

EDIT: Just checked out PMMM, that's brilliant! :D

Re: Arcade1Up 3/4 Scale Cabinets in Smyths

The cabinet hosts both the original Pac-Man as well as Midway's Pac Man-Plus which has got the weird blue ghosts.

Re: Game art copied from elsewhere

You're free to disagree. :) If you could at least elaborate on what's supposed to be a "direct-copy" here. Here's the reference Wakelin used, it's from an old pulp mag cover. Not sure what the original artist used for reference (if any at all), couldn't find any matches amongst '40s publicity/film-s...

Re: Game art copied from elsewhere

Dark Passage is one of my all time favourite movies. :) Direct copy, minor differences? I'm sorry, I just don't see it. I may not be the greatest artist but I feel I'm at least somewhat competent in seeing references and I can't find any similarities between the photo of Bogart and the detective, sa...

Re: Fuse libretro

Reading a bit, it seems to need quite some work to utilize the libretro API. So yeah, if anyone got the skills and time, it'd be greatly appreciated.
