Re: Silk Dust

Glad to see that my game has been already reviewed! BTW, version 1.0 is out today! It can be freely download from Itch.io: https://darwinne.itch.io/silk-dust or from my blog: http://davbucci.chez-alice.fr/index.php?argument=varie/silk/silk.inc&language=English It is perfectly OK for me if someon...

Re: Silk Dust

No problem! I'm glad you could pet the cat at the beginning of part 2 of the game :)

Re: Silk Dust

The behaviour you described is normal. At the end of part 1 you have to load again the game and select part 2, as the game is too large for the memory of the C64 (and the 48K Spectrum). To enter the password, you just have to type the two words written in capitals at the end of part 1. Silk Dust wil...

Re: Silk Dust

I finished part one of the Queen's footsteps, the c64 disk download doesn't have part 2 on your website? Or am I doing something wrong. Normally yes, the game is supposed to be complete. I just checked by downloading it and tried on the Vice emulator and part 2 starts correctly. Did you get an erro...

Re: Silk Dust

I added a small delay (3 to 4 s) at the beginning of the game (in Silk Dust). That will not add an unreasonable length to wait, but will allow to show the splash screen.

Re: Silk Dust

I am currently playing queen's footsteps on zx and c64 for some reason. Great atmosphere and sense of world. I'm terribe at these games though. I'm glad you like it! If you need some hints, don't hesitate to write me a PM. One thing that seemed a shame is that loading on emulator or divide the load...

Silk Dust

Dear all, I've been working for months writing a follow-up of my previous text adventure game, The Queen's Footsteps https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=31740#p31740 The new game is called Silk Dust and can be loaded from tape on the ZXSpectrum 48K. I also prepared a version for t...

Re: The Innuh's pyramid

I'm happy to see that that little game gets played! :) That's true, for years I read "Innuh" at the place of "Iunnuh" every time I had the MC microcomputer magazine in front of my eyes  When I finally got in touch with the author, Aristide Torrelli very kindly made me notic...

DarwinNE wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 9:56 amIt seems that the load/save code still does not work, I am trying to see if there is a limitation associated to the z88dk compiler or if I overlooked something.
It turned out that I was using wrong compile options. Now the +3 version can load and save on the disk 8-)

TomD wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 1:00 pmJust one small change, you do need to add a pause before the randomize usr statement otherwise the drive motor just keeps running.
Thank you! I forgot that detail, it should be corrected, now.

Re: Self booting disk for plus 3 with loader

I was able to solve the issue, patching iDSK so that it does not include the AMSDOS header. Thank you to everybody for the very useful help! The result can be downloaded here: http://davbucci.chez-alice.fr/index.php?argument=varie/queen/queen.inc&language=English (it's the ZX Spectrum +3 version...

Re: Self booting disk for plus 3 with loader

Thank you +3code, Catalogo Ampliado worked very well. The issue is clear: https://i.postimg.cc/mPzk592F/cat-amp.png QUEENS1.BIN and ZXQUEENS.BIN should be identical. It seems that when I wrote QUEENS1.BIN on the disk image, the attribute "code" was lost. Is there a way to set it correctly,...

Re: Self booting disk for plus 3 with loader

Well, things do not seem to go as smoothly as expected. I still have some maybe trivial questions... I suspect the culprit is the disk image tool I am using, i.e. iDSK that I successfully used for the Amstrad. I can extract working files from a disk image, but if I put them again in another disk ima...

Self booting disk for plus 3 with loader

Dear all, I have recently published a text adventure game for the ZX Spectrum 48K called The Queen's Footsteps: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/35236/ZX-Spectrum/The_Queens_Footsteps The game is in three parts and can be loaded from a tap file or audio from a cassette. Someone requested a vers...

Re: Beginners Adventure

There are several people currently writing text adventures for 8-bits which are, perhaps, designed for slightly more modern sensibilities. I know that's something that Davide does, and also people like Stefan Vogt; again a lot of people not into text adventures have said they've enjoyed his Hiberna...

Re: The Queen's Footsteps

If you use the password to access part 4, you have fewer items than if you just continued on from part 3. For example, using password access for part 4, I lose the crowbar & broken lamp Is this correct? Yes, that will not cause any issue! Completed! That's cool! If you want, send me the final p...

Re: The Queen's Footsteps

Thank you very much, R-Tape, I'm glad you enjoy the game! Indeed, I tried to write evocative descriptions as much as I can. Some details are historical, others are invented, but I had to do some research, indeed. I wrote a page about that: http://davbucci.chez-alice.fr/index.php?argument=varie/queen...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello from France!

I first saw a rubber key ZX Spectrum back in 1980 and something visiting a friend. I was intrigued!
I got my first Spectrum 48K a few years ago and sometimes I like writing software for it in my spare time.

Hello! I'm Davide Bucci and I wrote both games. For me it's perfectly OK if you upload them on a database!

Please play them, enjoy them, share them with your friends as much as you like! :)
