Re: Purely theoretical ROM swap
I've done this through emulation in the past (curiosity, boredom, take your pic...) A Spectrum running the ZX81 ROM will run the familiar Spectrum 'reset' sequence, including the appearing and disappearing red lines bit. This is because the initial RAM test code in the '81 ROM is identical to that i...

Re: Fuller Box & Fuller Orator support
Apologies @TheMartian as I've only seen this message now
The Fuller Box unit I have has an onboard crystal that's missing its markings but I've measured it as the aforementioned 1.638190MHz. I've not observed any contention related slowdown effects on real hardware.

Re: Fuller Box & Fuller Orator support
Bump.
To put this to bed, I obtained a Fuller Master Unit a couple of days ago (Combined AY and Orator) and measured the clock to the AY, which is 1.63819MHz.
I’ve updated the Sinclair Wiki (https://sinclair.wiki.zxnet.co.uk/wiki/AY-3-8912) with this info too.

Re: Fuller Box & Fuller Orator support
Hi druellan, Have you worked out what the AY clock rate is on the Fuller box? It's different than on the 128 machines, and the zxnet wiki states: The Fuller Box is nominally clocked at 1.75 MHz but suffers from contention problems. I've been keeping an eye out for a Fuller Box mys...

Woody's fdc765.dll - 64 bit version?
Hi everyone,
I've been using fdc765.dll from SpecEmu (as a lot of emulators do) to provide the FDC emulation in my own nascent emulator. However, I can't use this in a 64-bit build as the DLL itself is 32 bit.
Anyone know if there is a 64 bit build available?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the effort in getting the site back up and running, it's never fun when events like these happen, even more so when you're off the clock, so to speak!

Re: Cloudflare
It's closed source and hasn't been released, to be honest I'm not sure it ever will as the accuracy of the emulation is below par, but the key point is that I can modify it at will, which comes in handy for testing zx-diagnostics :) I originally only started it as a means to keep my .NET skills up t...

Re: Cloudflare
Hi Peter, Would it be possible to add "BeSpec" to the User Agent safe list? I've got an emulator that performs ZXDB search/downloads and is getting 503's from SC, presumably due to Cloudflare. (The current user agent it includes in requests is 'BeSpec/0.2' but this will change with the emu...

Re: connecting to Digital TV
I feel like that article misses a trick by not also describing the mods to put audio on pin 3 and the second 12V on pin 5. One SCART cable pinout to rule them all (and fully support all the SCART signals) :) I suppose they're somewhat more involved on the 128, needing wire to patch signals across. ...

You can find details on how to make your 128 Spectrum SCART compliant here (requires a little soldering, well within the reach of a beginner):

Re: Zx Spectrum Plus does not respond to keyboard commands
This is going to be a ULA problem, unfortunately. What happens is that one of the KBx lines in the ULA gets stuck low, so the ROM code thinks multiple keys are permanently held down, therefore no keypresses can be registered. If you run a diagnostic program that displays the status of port 0xFE then...

Yes, just that the ROM checksum and machine auto detection won’t work if you’re not using one of the devices on the supported list (see the wiki for details).

May I be the first to call 'Bollocks'. Really Lee, you're insulting people's intelligence here. You're a chancer, spoofer, and whatever other adjective suits a person who takes on a project way above their capability level. The best thing you could do is to hand over WoS to a more capable team of pe...

Re: World of Spectrum....
Quite interesting that Richard, Gerard and David have been thrown under the bus as far as WoS moderation goes. Funnily enough whilst I don't always agree with them I've found them somewhat more approachable than the admin who purports to be acting in the site's best interests...
