Re: Civilization (in progress)

I'm glad you're still working on it! I'm not going to make modern leader portraits, it's not really Civ to me with all modern leaders. I hope you can use the ones I've made. If you decide not to use the original leader portraits I made then I request that you don't use the loading screen I made eit...

Re: Civilization (in progress)

@Andrew771 Glad to see you're still working on it. Can we access the latest version of ZX Like Pascal somewhere? I posted a working version for ZX Like Pascal and Civilization here: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/PsSJ/ERF6Ek2P4 Haven't released the official one yet Compilation now takes a long time, ...

Re: Civilization (in progress)

Here's the completed bits and an example of the tiles. There's only a few tiles so far, and I kept the top down view like the original Civilization. Let me know what else you might need and I'll pause further bits for now. Don't think that I have disappeared. :D As promised, I worked in the summer....

Re: Civilization (in progress)

Super good graphics! Thank you! I’ll insert in the next few days into the current game and rename civilizations and units to fit the graphics. Today I continued to work, while I abandoned AI, I write History. Like last time, there should be more time in the summer, we will send the children to their...

Re: Civilization (in progress)

Great, thanks a lot! Sorry for not answering for a long time, I'm very busy at work, and on weekends I have family business, so I haven't done anything in the last month :( Is the loading screen a splash screen when loading the game (6912 bytes)? Of course, there is a place for it, it is not include...

Re: Civilization (in progress)

I decided to add some political satire for the current leaders.
But if you don’t like it, then you can do it traditionally - Caesar and Alexander the Great :)

Re: Civilization (in progress)

Hi, do you need help with the artwork for this? I love Civilization so it would be great to see this finished! Here's some game mockups I've done before: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7051 Wow, super! Yes, I need help for sprites and load screen. Sprites for units are 16x16...

Re: Civilization (in progress)

In this demo, he (Vitaly Kubekin from Belarus) wrote in Russian in the beginning that even 128k would not be enough, and he is planning a Pentagon russian ZX-clone, because he wanted to do a port of the PC-game (22 civilizations, lots of graphics, etc.). I want to fit in 48k by tradition! But there ...

Re: Civilization (in progress)

Had a quick go at it, I do not know exactly what I'm doing, but it looks amazing. I can't wait to see where this leads. As you probably guessed, this is a remake of Sid Meier's Civilization game (which is for DOS). The goal of the game is to lead your civilization, develop it from the Stone Age to ...

Civilization (in progress)

I present SNA-demos of the Civilization game (English and Russian), see here Already possible: - climb the map with units (QAOP keys, as well as from 1 to 8 - 8 directions); - colonists can found cities (B key); - colonists can create arable land, except for deserts, mountains and tundra (I key); - ...

Re: How do you design levels for your games?

I found my tool for maze generation: https://zx-pk.ru/attachment.php?attachm ... 1351846730
It's used for ZXOOM game. You can create a maze from 3x3 to 128x128 with walls, halls, enemies etc. Probabilities for elements are given by user. The maze is coding to file labirint.txt.

Re: How do you design levels for your games?

I write tools for creating a map in Delphi, and in the Euphoria 2D game I wrote a random map generator in assembler, you can see it in the source code. The most difficult thing was to create a map for the game Russian Railway Magnate. The format was taken from the Euphoria 2D game - 170 x 170 cells,...

Re: ZXwordle

I think, that the delta can be made with only 2 bits: it shows the difference by 1,2,3 or 4 letters (00, 01, 10, 11) from the previous word, and encode non-repeating letters in 5 bits

Re: ZXwordle

Searching that list however... not sure how slow that would be in Z80. But that's maybe not a problem given the style of game. (fingers crossed that my maths is right...) I already implemented 5-bit dictionary archiving in 2012 for "Erudit" (Russian scrabble) and "Sexwords" game...

I use EmuZWin emulator for assembler coding and debugging, all in one is convenient. And I use the cross-compiler ZX Like Pascal for a high-level programming language + my sprite converter.
