Radio Študent – Spectrum Game FM Broadcast

Tonight Radio Študent in Slovenia revived the (very cool) tradition of broadcasting ZX Spectrum software over the radio:

The game being transmitted is Kontrabant 2.

Re: Psychedelia in "line mode"?

The text column continues below the screenshot, it should read Load Psychedelia with LOAD "" CODE The "line mode" refers to one of the features of the program itself (press the L key to toggle Line Mode on and off). It's seems to crash on +2A (at least in my emulator) though, eve...

Re: Blasphemy! Your favourite C64 SID chiptunes...

This week I've been mostly playing with HardSID on eLeMeNt ZX (hopefully allaying any fears that this topic isn't sufficiently Spectrum-related!) It works by driving the eLeMeNt's FPGA SID implementation. (It has a conventional/discrete Z80 but some tunes need it clocked at 7 or 14MHz). https://zxfi...

Re: UniDOS on the +D (Plus D) disk system

when MGT had become (or been purchased by?) Datel I believe they sold the PlusD to concentrate on launching SAM Coupé (and raise a bit of cash, and get away from support, repairs etc. to focus on the new machine). Before the +D there was the Disciple (disk... I pull?? GET IT?? god knows) -- which w...

I've added a few more, this time from TILT magazine.

I noticed from the recent changes list that @sn3j has already done a couple, so I've only updated the others.

I don't see the "I don't believe on those things" option. Nah me neither but I do like what Douglas Adams had to say about it: In astrology the rules happen to be about stars and planets, but they could be about ducks and drakes for all the difference it would make. It's just a way of thi...

I've made a start with the entries from ORDI-5 magazine. I'll carry on with the others on the list from that publication.

Edit — I've finished these ones.

The campaign has ended (congratulations on your successful funding Pixel Jockey ). I see the items can be separately pre-ordered from the Pixel Jockey shop , so if you fancy a wee set of pinbadges that's now a standalone option (£11.99) https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e01dbf_7ba0d803cbe84c6da939d...

Re: GetIt 1.3 [not working]

Have not used GetIt recently, but in the past I was able to recover WiFi using .uart and sending AT+RESTORE command. Which is the "factory reset" and you will have to set up the connection again. Thanks jamesh I've already tried that. (I think it might have been your post on the Next foru...

Re: The Lower Caverns

Aha, it’s revealed in SAM Revival #22. Worth picking up a copy to read the full interview with Ledbury, but here’s a tiny snippet: “Originally we hoped to include the original Eugene sprite in SAM Manic Miner. But to be truthful we couldn’t locate the image in the source and the graphic artists both...

GetIt 1.3 [not working]

I've run into a problem with GetIt (a few other users have mentioned same in the comments); it seems to hang after the splash screen with the message "checking wifi…". ZXDB-DL is similarly affected, but otherwise WiFi (using .http and .sync for example) is working. Has anyone else experien...

Not totally sure but iirc was a post askink if the Spectrum community could be interested in a demake of a game called "Mechathroids" or something similar. I think the game mentioned was Mechanarium . It’s a lovely indie adventure game. Well known for its hand-drawn graphics, so it doesn’...

Re: Options for reading & writing real Disciple / Plus D & SAM disks in 2024

I use a Greaseweazel with a desktop Intel iMac and a reclaimed PC 3.5" floppy drive. (There are some other tips in the linked thread too). It works by creating a “flux” level image of the disk so it can cope with any arbitrary disk format. (I normally use the SCP image container). samdisk can c...

Yes, I'd like something like ZXBlockeditor for MDV files—that would be very useful! (In the meantime I mainly use Fuse).

For working with snapshots (.SNA, .Z80) @TomD has created Z80onMDR.
