Re: Locked In!
I’m just going to weigh in with this: it’s very amusing to read the spoilers when you have no idea what the game is about.

Re: Replacing Z80 with SRAM version
I'm guessing it's this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/393315688828 In which case, yes, just remove the upper RAM and drop this in place of the Z80. Is it using a CPLD to emulate a Z80 or is that a genuine Z80 in a different form factor? Oh, interesting. I assume, since it’s designed with the Speccy ...

Re: Replacing Z80 with SRAM version
This is just the RAM module itself with no CPU on the board.PeterJ wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 9:18 am Is it this @Ast A. Moore?

Re: Unsupported? .Z80 file header values
Indeed. I just loaded it into zxsp and then re-saved it as a .z80 file. This produced a file that which also wouldn’t load in other emulators. Same thing if I create a .z80 from a different machine state in zxsp; so, yes, it seems plausible that the original was created with zxsp.

Re: Replacing Z80 with SRAM version
I’m sorry, but what’s a Z80 with “32K of built-in RAM”?

Re: Random reset switch question.
if it’s push to make then what are you ‘making’ when you push the Speccy reset switch? I assumed that you would be ‘breaking’ something by pushing the switch ie. cutting the power, like when you pull out the power plug. Well, no. While you can reset the Speccy by literally pulling the plug on it, t...

Re: Random reset switch question.
Yep. Go ahead and clip them. No, there is no difference between the regular and “plus” boards, as far as the enclosure “downgrade” is concerned.

Re: Insanely fast Road Runner turbo loading by Ast A. Moore
Although this certainly doesn’t look like the original Speedlock, I’m afraid I have nothing to do with this particular version of Road Runner . The full list of games that I’ve provided bug fixes for can be found here , and Road Runner just isn’t one of them. As a rule, whenever possible, I only pro...

Re: Does not boot and red screen
If the border is consistently white across reboots, then the CPU can execute some ROM code. So, the fault is likely with the RAM.

Re: Just having a look in a draw…
Yes, the “Sinclair” and “ZX Spectrum” moldings are much more pronounced (raised) on the Recreated Spectrum than on the real thing.

Sounds unbelievable, but it’s been forty years. Forty years, gentlemen! And yet, whenever I fire her up, I feel like a teenager again. Not quite the Fountain of Youth, but there’s definitely something magical about the Speccy. No matter what I do or where I am, the Spectrum will always be an importa...

I remember playing Savage II and literally swaying right and left and bobbing my head to dodge the projectiles flying into my face. Couldn’t get any more immersive than that.

Re: Any chance of identifying the game used in this clip?
Well, it’s a wild goose chase. The snippets so tiny and clearly in a random order. I don’t see how one can even begin to arrange them on the screen (assuming they come from a loading screen), even if one manages to reconstruct all the data. On top of that, the extracted bits are not necessarily goin...
