I’ve no idea how I might achieve that though as we’re at 593, which is 81 bytes too big! :(
Reduce the pieces’ dimensions. ;)

Re: Modern methods of saving BASIC programs

I don’t develop on my Spectrums, though. I use them for testing my code, especially some model-specific code, but otherwise, I find it counterproductive. (Not to mention that avoiding the unnecessary stress on the old hardware by having it run hours on end is generally a good idea, too.) However, I ...

Re: Dizzy and the Mystical Letter

I don’t know. It feels . . . sluggish. Playing it on the 128K machine, I see it switches rapidly between mostly contended memory banks. Maybe it was only tested on Soviet clones, which don’t have memory contention.

Re: Dizzy and the Mystical Letter

I'm not 100% sure but it seems to be Russian language only at the moment, am I right? Do you know how to open the accompanying .txt file as regular Cyrillic? If your text editor doesn’t allow you to choose text encodings, change the file extension to .html, open it in a web browser, and play around...

Re: Musical tape loaders

he noticed that you can stop the load at any point and resume. True, but most of the time it’ll mess up the picture, as some data will likely be lost. (You can try it with Fuse as well, using the play/pause command. That way, no data will be lost.) That’s one of the modifications made to the loader...

Ta! I'm not sure why mine didn't work :?
It didn’t work for me when I tried it with fuseutils either, so I took a different approach. I loaded the WAV into Fuse and then saved it as a TZX.

Re: Which games really pushed the Speccy?

Surely that was pushing the limits of what the public expected, not what the Speccy was capable of. . . . The fact that nobody really bothered to push the limits back when KL was released doesn't mean that KL actually did that. After all, we're almost at the edge of what an unenhanced Speccy can do...

Re: New software 2018

What is Mozaication all about? http://events.retroscene.org/dh2018/LowEnd_256b_Intro/1858 Is it ULAplus or some Timex mode? How does one take a representative screenshot? I think it’s (a) Pentagon-specific timing-wise and (b) uses that nasty 50-at-25-fps mode that works only on some LCD TVs . Never...

Re: Musical tape loaders

Thanks Mat et al. Impressive indeed. I'm going to need to go to a darkened room with a flannel on my forehead trying to work out how this actually works. I think I know how it works. I theory, a least. Now that we know the .wav works, can anyone make a functioning TZX from it? 4Mb is a sizeable fil...
