Re: Did you ever think you were the last Spectrum user?

My 48K, which my Dad bought me in June 1984, sadly was half-fried around 1993. I knew of no other who was using real hardware Spectrums around then, which was not surprising since from 1985 on Italy had become a Commodore colony, and everybody else had C64s, or had ditched the C64 in favour of the A...

Re: Simple USR call no longer working.

I tried doing the same just by entering the four POKE instructions one by one, and as Seven wrote, 33000 is high enough in the RAM to avoid trouble with such a small code. CLEAR 32999 can be safely omitted in this case, then. However, my test was made under Windows 10, with the Fuse 1.5.7 Windows po...

An interesting Aplib-based data compressor

Following the discussion in this thread, I went to read - with the help of Google Translate ;-) - the two articles, and like Einar, I also found them to be quite well written and documented. Generally speaking, they confirmed what I already knew, i.e.: Exomizer, now at versione 3.02, is the most effi...

Re: Spectrum NEXT emulator.

Hi @stupidget, I discovered a nifty Next emulator called CSpect. I managed to run it successfully under Windows 10.

For you, I found a guide on the specnext.dev website, I hope it will be of some help.

Re: Woot! 2019 Submissions wanted

Do you mean a feature similar to the one you did for AGD games last year? That would allow me to insert screenshots as well as text.

Re: BBC Archive: Sir Clive Sinclair shows off the latest Spectrum computer

Well it was 1986, Sinclair Research Ltd was in dire times (the Amstrad takeover would have taken place less than two months later), the computer was launched way off the Christmas period (as it should have been in Uncle Clive's earlier intentions), and in a "dead" time of the year for sales... he co...

Re: Clones that are not

Both cases have been discussed here and here - you know it ;) I also think that Tarantula was a deliberate code rip-off of Roller Coaster - text and (unused) graphics from the latter found into the former are a strong enough proof in my opinion. As for the two Mastertronic games, as others argued, t...

Re: Light Guns and Speccy

How many games are there for this light gun? This is a compilation which came with the Cheetah light gun: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96&id=11242 You could also try the compilation which was bundled with models sold with the Sinclair light gun: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/inde...

Re: 'Inspired by' suggestion.

Code Masters' Kamikaze seems to be inspired by Namco's Sky Kid coin-op.
