Re: Nirvana/Bifröst-esque static graphics in t'olden days

Here's a list of all Spectrum programs that use any kind of multicolor effect:

Both games you mentioned were missing from this list, I'm adding them now. Thanks!

Re: C64 Standard Bitmap Mode (320 x 200)

Out of curiosity, here's how the Spectrum palette would look like with 16 truly distinct colors: https://i.ibb.co/QfhZwdK/palettes2.png At the center is the real Spectrum palette. At the top, I kept the 8 original non-bright Spectrum colors, then added another 8 exactly intermediate colors between t...

Re: C64 Standard Bitmap Mode (320 x 200)

Look here: https://lospec.com/palette-list IMHO: When you browse the palette list, you quickly realize that universal 16 color palette is rather impossible. I see there some are much better than the others to represent the real world in games and pixel art instead of "covering the color spectrum qu...

They are not. The correct c64 colours are highly debated and there are several palettes in use.
I can understand minor differences. However I never saw anyone publish a C64 screenshot that wasn't very washed out. Do you mean absolutely EVERYBODY got it completely wrong?

Bizarre.

Re: Z80 asm/disasm in Z80 asm, request

Replace this:

Code: Select all

.XTRACT
	or a
	jr z,COPY
.SKIP
	bit 7,(hl)
	inc hl
	jr z,SKIP
	dec a
	jr nz,SKIP
.COPY
With this:

Code: Select all

.SKIP

	inc hl
	jr z,SKIP
	dec a
.XTRACT

Re: Z80 asm/disasm in Z80 asm, request

For a disassembler try this one: https://github.com/z88dk/z88dk/blob/master/libsrc/debug/disz80.asm This listing says: The SUBSET editor David Barrow was able to trim only one byte from John Kerr's compact code. I've forgotten where so there's a challenge. Right at the beginning: cp 255 jr nz, dizl...

Re: C64 Standard Bitmap Mode (320 x 200)

This is an interesting discussion. I found this: https://i.ibb.co/WgYgsj9/palettes.png If these palettes are accurate, then it means C64 colors are 1 black, 4 browns, 3 purples, 2 greens, 1 greenish yellow, 1 grayish cyan, 3 grays, 1 white. The problem is not just lack of vibrant colors, it's also m...

Re: Camouflage Chris Sievey zx80

If you can upload it as WAV, I'm sure we can find people willing to convert it.

Also please upload the music too! It can also be WAV, that we can convert to a higher quality MP3 later. The music video program doesn't make much sense without the corresponding music :)

Thanks!!!
