Re: Issues using zx7

180 seconds the whole 100 compressions (plus the screen compression). The times were taken on a Ryzen 3 1200 with 8Gb RAM. So, with TMHT (mixed data) it took about 0.03 seconds per 41k block and with 3D Deathchase (big empty chunk at the end) took about 1.8 seconds per block. OK, these results seem...

Re: Ports and other external links

Is AtariAge linked up? I admit I only looked at one title, but Feud does not have a link to Atari Age: We currently have information about 6,767 ports, but we don't have URL for 1,484 of them. Also there are certainly more ports than we don't have. If anyone can help complete the missing ports or U...

3D Deathchase took 180 seconds
Again, did it take 180 seconds for each compression on average, or 180 seconds to compress 100 times?

Re: Little bugs in the database 3

As for the magazine in English. I take most of the information from English sources, I simply combine all this into one whole. My level of English is not very good  Exactly. Most of your magazine content is already in English, especially interviews. You only need someone that can translate th...

Re: Ports and other external links

Is there any interest in adding details for these platforms? If so I'd be happy to do some work on this. I'd need to know the best format to provide the info; I was thinking something like a spreadsheet/CSV file with ZXDB id in the first column and a column for each platform's URL. This is awesome,...

Re: Little bugs in the database 3

"Bookware means the program was based on a story from a book, which is included in the distribution." I don't think this definition would quite cover things like Starglider and Knight Orc (both currently marked as Bookware) which were bundled with specially-written novellas -- ie. the story was wri...

Re: Little bugs in the database 3

I recently added Legends Of Bytes to ZXDB. This magazine is an excellent source of information about Speccy game authors! Someone fluent in Russian should be able to obtain lots of useful information still missing from our database. It's currently published by a guy called Gennadiy. If someone has ...

Re: Issues using zx7

i didn't looked at the algo, but maybe you can simply put in some special-case hacks for repetitions of the same byte somehow? That's what I thought. Problem is, handling single byte repetitions at the beginning of a file should be trivial. But in the middle of a file, it will require adjusting all...
