Re: Issues using zx7

it is quite fast on example screens, but... create file with 32KB of zeroes, for example, and it will slow down to a crawl, taking 5-8 seconds to process it. Unfortunately it makes sense. Lempel-Ziv is based on compressing repetitions. When there are repetitions everywhere, there are many more comb...

Re: Issues using zx7

Did it take 8 seconds each execution on average, or 8 seconds total time to run 1000 times?

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

Thanks everybody for your support!

Also I appreciate the offer for others to compile a FAQ because I'm tired of writing about this subject myself :)

and i guess we'll eventually have ZXNext titles too, so adding that info to URL is prolly a good idea.
We already have ZX Next titles in ZXDB:

Re: Issues using zx7

Your project sounds interesting :) A few ideas: Profile how much time your program is spending allocating and freeing memory. There's no need to reallocate buffers "min", "max", and "matches". These buffers have constant size, so you can simply reuse them. Buffers "match_slots" and "optimal" depend ...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE! WE ARE RUNNING IN CIRCLES AGAIN!!! Ok, time to clear this up. Except you didn't. I have proved beyond any doubt that new WoS "stole" ZXDB, despite you explicitly denying it and accusing me of the opposite . You didn't even try to explain anything I wrote. Instead, you are just fo...

Good point. I might add RR8 and RR9 to my macros file to remember how many bits are used, as I think RR and RRC are defined the wrong way round.
RRC means "Rotate Right Circular".

A bad name choice indeed.

Re: SQL for dummies

Does anyone know why HeidiSQL doesn't display all information for long lists? In this case I want to see the max id in magrefs, and when I click 'show all' (which works for other tables), I can only see as far as 120,732. When I query with "SELECT MAX(id) FROM magrefs;", it reports the true max of ...

Re: ZX Spectrum Multi User Dungeon (MUD)

This is looking great! It has the characteristics of a project that may continue to evolve over time. For this reason, I suggest you move this project to Github and post a link here, instead of posting copies of your code directly. This will have many advantages. People will be able to easily find t...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB

SO WHAT NOW? I have a few requests to the WoS team. Feel free to point out if I'm asking anything unreasonable at all: Please stop slandering me. JUST STOP . I moved away from WoS forum and I have been avoiding this subject because I'm tired and sick of this. But every few months, Lee Fogarty or Ri...
