Re: Spectranet
cat It works exactly like the original, so all original documentation is the same for Alexsey's card. The documentation for the card itself (the switch functions etc.) is sent by Aleksey and is the only card specific documentation. 'Tis a fine card. I play around with assembly and...

Runs (or is it gallops) just fine on a 48k machine with an AY card.

Re: 4 Out of memory with Spectranet
mdr , The magazine covertapes section loads fine. Selecting 4 for Games gives '4 Out of memory 116:2', so it never leaves the Mani Menu screen. I have been doing some testing in FUSE and your site works just fine in emulation (my FUSE setup is a clone of my hardware). I have an un...

Re: 4 Out of memory with Spectranet
Hi mdr , currently I am getting a '4 Out of memory' when I select anything from the main menu. I am using a 48k spectrum +. I have tried 2:Scene Demos, 4:Games and 9:Message wall, all giving OOM errors. I will try a few tests with FUSE later on to see if it happens with emulation....

Re: Travel Through Time vol. 1 - Zosya
This looks good. I had some hours of play of Zosya's previous driving game 'Drift', the presentation and game engine were beyond belief. Unfortunately I did not have the skills to do the game justice. I should give it some more time because when you got it right the game was really satisfying. Looki...

Re: Spectranet - the TNFS directory thread
mdr Your TNFS server is incredible! I will have a dig after I get back from a weekend away. I do have one request, but I am not certain how easy it would be : Can you indicate if a .tap works on 48k machines? I use SpectraNet on a 48k+ so have to use trial and error and see if I g...

Re: File browser for Spectranet/tnfs - TNFS Explorer
Thanks for the feedback :) p13z I think tnfs is largely used as a BBS type affair, which is the spirit of it, unlike divIDE devices which are dedicated file storage devices. I use my spectranet for both surfing and loading, so I had a need for a browser. My browser was not designe...

Re: 48k case insert/caddy for ZXBaremulator
Nice job! This confirms my theory that an A+ will fit in a rubberkey speccy. I bought a new membrane for my 48k and soon after it died. I really don't want to alter the case because I do want to fix the board one day. This is a great way to keep the soul of a speccy alive :D I have the same printer ...

Re: Basic editor(s)
I was late to the 128k scene. By the time I got a 128k toastrack, my fingers already knew where the keywords were so I never really gelled to the 128k editor, Which was odd, because I was jealous of my BBC owning buddy who mocked the keyword system relentlessly. I now have a +2 and I can say I enjoy...

File browser for Spectranet/tnfs - TNFS Explorer
I use a spectranet card on my 48k+ Spectrum, along with a tnfs server running on a Pi3. I do not own a divIDE type card so I use this setup for all of my file loading on the Spectrum. I was finding it a pain having to type the filename so I have written a file browser. The GUI is written in assembly...

Re: Games "based" on actual events
Spitfire 40 put you in the shoes of a ww2 pilot during the battle of Britain. The game came with a printed manual (remember those!) that was very detailed and explained many of the technical issues presented to the pilots of the Spitfire (carbs with float chambers/valves being the big one). I loved...

Re: Do you play your games on a physical Speccy or an emulator?
I think games are best played on original hardware, unfortunately space can be an issue so I am limited to a single 48k+ (with spectranet) for day to day use. I have used emulators for games in the past and prefer the 'bare metal' type emulators like Patrik Raks Nintendo DS emulator and ZX Baremulat...

Thanks to flatduckrecords for your help hacking on zmakebas to improve support for Spectranet tokens so I could make use of %fopen! Is it possible to post here how you did this. SpectraNet..Reading directory lists in machine code.
The SpectraNet has really good documentation, however there was never any documentation for the machine code calls for the TNFS filesystem. Luckily the GitHub contains all of the ROM assembly code which has very comprehensive comments. Also the entry points for all of the TNFS operations are in the ...

Re: SpectraNet compatible, ShamaZX NET512 Network Interface
Gopher is an early rival of the world-wide-web, it has a small following today but is very interesting. The original project got hamstrung by licensing arrangements (and probably other factors) and never took off in the same way as HTML. It is a text/file server that can be viewed on a client. uGoph...

Re: SpectraNet compatible, ShamaZX NET512 Network Interface
Just reviving this thread for an update. I have managed to obtain a 48kb Spectrum+. With this machine the card tests 100% working perfectly. It is an excellent card. DHCP now works perfectly. No freezes ever. I really like the form factor of the card. The main pcb attaches at 90 degrees (by header p...

Ast A. Moore , I have been running test 2 for quite a few minutes and there is just a colour cycling attribute square above the filename. Re: Z80 CPU Tests
My +2 is a 'Made in the UK' version (Z70700 iss 1). As far as I can tell, they were made in the UK to use up component stocks from the 128k toastrack production. The board has a revised layout and uses axial capacitors. It is fitted with an NEC D780C-1 processor, which is soldered to the PCB so I do...

Z80 CPU Tests
I have been running some diagnostic software on my old +2 grey. I ran Patrik Rak 's Z80 full test out of curiosity. My spectrum failed the first two tests, SCF and CCF , and then failed spectacularly on test 146 LD I,A . All the tests in between passed OK. The software crashes at ...

I did this. The pin out is as follows :Ast A. Moore wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 10:08 pm Just buzz out either pin (2 or 4) of the connector to pin 35 on the ULA and you’ll get your MIC, which is pin 2.
