Re: The best Speccy game by Ocean: discussion

Beach Volley never got a a release in the UK on both the Ocean or Hit Squad labels. I think I it got released under the serve label but God knows which version was released as nobody I’ve ever spoken to ever remembered it getting finished. There was an SU cover demo, though.

Re: The perfect fall/jump

Nice. I guess the exaggeration and base over apex jumps demonstrate that one should forget theory and go with whatever looks good! Bingo! And I recommend this book, which is what I use. I've got it sitting out next to me for reference when I need it while doing Melkhior's Mansion animation. https:/...

Re: Best PC program for sprite animation

I use Photoshop on my laptop for pretty much all my pixels (Spectrum and non-Spectrum), including creating animations, though I’m thinking about giving Aseprite a go, though. When doing full Spectrum stuff I’ll import my graphics into SevenUp and the programmer can use the SEV files if they want. Fo...

Re: Best geology...

Rocks are, uh...hard...to do. You could take the easy “that’ll do” root and create random noise, but I think that looks really rubbish. The surrounding rocks for Vallation was “easier” - 2 different blocks for each level. They pretty much tiled but deliberately kept blocky to give a console-y stylis...

Re: Atic-Atac Isometric Version

Yip, apparently so. I have no idea of the technical gubbins behind it all, though. The Next version is being being converted by Kev Brady, who is 1 of the Spectrum Next team, so he knows the hardware. The first time I saw the Next version running was on the Friday night there before the Play Expo An...

Re: Atic-Atac Isometric Version

Did you get along to see and try both the PC and Next demos, Daren? Sorry that I never got to chat you you if you did - there were tons of people I never got to meet. We’ve had some great feedback and nice comments regarding it so that’s been really encouraging. 1 thing that’s changed already is tha...

Re: Atic-Atac Isometric Version

If anyone is popping along the Play Expo Manchester this weekend, you can play a demo of both the PC and Spectrum Next version at the Spectrum Next stand. I’ll be there along with Richard and Kev so they can answer any questions while I’ll drone on about Spectrum graphics.

Re: ZX Spectrum Next Discussion

It's less than 2 weeks now for the Manchester Play Expo and there will be a sizeable Spectrum Next presence there from the team (I think) and games being released on it. I'm not sure about hardware, but I expect some of that to be showcased, too. Now, I'm not part of them but will be there in an uno...
