Ooph, what a list and so hard to pick only three! Both WEC Le Mans and Arkanoid Revenge of Doh are favourites too.

1. Solomon's Key
2. Cybernoid
3. Exolon
Looking back at these games it strikes me that Cecco was certainly an accomplished programmer but there wasn't always that much in terms of gameplay. Solomon's Key is a positive exception to that, yet also a conversion from an arcade game.

Renegade: managing one more flying kick at a storming Big Bertha, and then finishing her off while she's lying on the ground. Instant gratification!

Re: Game Collecting - How high would you go?
My collection of Spectrum games is rather small, but over time I did manage to collect all the classic Ultimate cardboard boxed games. I probably paid around 20 Euros per title for those. The most I've ever spent was the full collection of 10 Interface II cartridges. Completely boxed, with instructi...

Re: How long have you been part of the Speccy Retro Scene?
Rather, I'd put the start as being the creation of the comp.sys.sinclair newsgroup in late 1993, and I was involved with that, pretty much from the beginning. Before I found WOS in 2002, CSS was my main connection to the Speccy scene. Very influential, quite chaotic and also very funny. (Mmm... Buf...

Re: How long have you been part of the Speccy Retro Scene?
In the summer of 1997 I started my first job at a design agency where after working hours I could access the internet on my own. Soon I found the legendary Spectrum archive at ftp://ftp.nvg.ntnu.no/pub/sinclair/ Which is still online btw! That's where I found emulators such as Mac Spectacle and Powe...

Re: NEXT Update
I own a Next from the first kickstarter, and also backed the second kickstarter. The delays have never been any problem to me. I think this is what you can expect if something unique in a small batch is being produced. There's always an element of risk involved with crowdfunded projects and I think ...

Re: Kempston - Why dont games make it default?
But Flying Shark does this. And it's got another little quirk in that if you press FIRE on a Sinclair joystick to start the game, it takes that as '0' on the keyboard and at first assumes you want CURSOR keys or a CURSOR joystick. So when you move LEFT/RIGHT (keys 6 & 7) your biplane moves up a...

1. Arkanoid II - Revenge of Doh
2. Batty
3. Thro' The Wall
Batty is for sure the prettiest of the lot, and the speed is impressive too.
But ultimately I think Batty is let down by the insane difficulty. The level design could have been better.
Honorable mention to Arkanoid Back to Basic.

They're different computers so it could be incredibly difficult. But also not. It really depends on what that the code is doing.

Re: Spot the font!
Both of these examples are pixel fonts but I don't think they're based on the Spectrum font at all.
Especially the last one where the capitals are 5 pixels tall, whereas the caps in the Spectrum font are 6 pixels tall, is a design that can come from many, many different sources.

Re: The best Speccy game by Odin Computer Graphics: vote
Very hard to choose between Robin and Nodes for the top spot. I have very fond memories of playing both games back in the day. They are top notch in terms of graphics, sound and playability. What I liked in particular about these two (in contrast to Heartland) is that they allow for long sessions of...

Re: Calling all Python programmers...
Good to hear you found a proper installer of Python 3.8. It's not uncommon to have multiple versions of Python installed. On my Mac I have several aliases that point to particular versions: python --> Python v2.7.10 python2 --> Python v2.7.10 python2.6 --> Python v2.6.9 python2.7 --> Python v2.7.10 ...
