Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

This is a brilliant emulator. I'm using it on my original rpi from 2011 with a 64meg!! SD card. And I'm doing that through composite and the audio jack. Amazing work - thank you for creating this. With my set up, I don't seem to be able to get 128k games to work. They cash after loading or else loa...

Re: question about disassembling with the 0xDD and 0xFD prefix codes

lovebug wrote: Mon Jan 11, 2021 7:24 pm
finally the question !
should I decode 0xDD 0x76 / 0xFD 0x76 as halt or as ld (hl), (ix + disp) / ld (hl), (iy + disp) ?

I dont have any real z80 based hardware to check this on and was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this problem ?
thanks
As HALT, the DD/FD prefix is ignored.

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

Anyway, the development is stopped and will be no more public updates. Be warned. @zx81 Have you considered using ZXBaremulator as a basis for a Kickstarter project? I'm sure you'd get a lot of backers, including many from here, myself included! Just a suggestion. Kind regards. No really, I don't w...

Re: Z80 Explorer

Last Monday I've build this circuit using a couple of breadboards:

https://baltazarstudios.com/arduino-zilog-z80/

to see some details about the inner workings of the Z80 CPU and is very funny that I can control the CPU with help of an Arduino Mega.

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

Anyway, I have got it working but when the baremulator boots up it says ‘you need a gpio keyboard connected’. Does anyone know how I stop this from being displayed? The emulator can't detect when a GPIO keyboard is connected, so when don't find any USB keyboard, warns about that. No, the message is...

Hi, I am finding the same issue. Want to put a pi zero in a 48K case using original keyboard, I have an audio filter to use with the GPIO 18,& 13 (or 19) but they all have keyboard inputs to them. Theres penty of spare iputs to move the keyboard to but can find a way of changing it. No sure if ...

Re: Longest cassette loading time for a ZX Spectrum game?

Two large games are The Addam's Family, and La Abadía del Crimen. This last game uses a loader with a slower speed than standard, around 65% I guess.

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

And more, the vsync would be 50 or 60 Hz. No one of these freqs are Spectrum freqs. Your Spectrum will be slower or faster than real, That's just ridiculous. You're talking about 1/2500 frame rate difference for 50Hz and Spectrum-128k. This is less than 48k to 128k difference and it never is exact ...

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

On a Pi Zero with gpio Spectrum keyboard and not using the function key switch, is it not possible to use gpio 12 alt0 pwm0 to get sound? P.S. José this is a fantastic emulator, however I wish that you could add an option so that interrupts are tied to vsync, this would make it perfect. Muchas grac...

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

The problem I'm having with ZXBaremulator at the moment isn't anything to do with the emulator, at least I don't think it is. I've tried it on an original 2011-12 Pi on my LED TV, through HDMI and composite, and the picture is fine. On an older Bush CRT TV (though not old old, it dates from around ...

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

The PS4 and XBox One drivers was written by myself, but the XBox 360 driver was written by Rene, the Circle library author because I don't own a Xbox 360 gamepad. Could be that Rene was using a Xbx360 clone, I can't remember very well. Probably a good option would be a Mayflash Magic NS USB adapter,...

Re: Playing games on original Hardware vs. Emulation

In a double-blind test, few people can say what's the FPGA-emulation and what's the emulator. Except by the less known fact that doesn't exist a FPGA implementation so accurate as a good emulator. Could be that, in a future (near?) somebody publish an accurate FPGA core, but today doesn't exist. ZX...

Re: "Real" aspect ratio?

According to Chris Smith’s The ZX Spectrum ULA , the Spectrum’s pixels are perfectly square. I guess that isn't possible. Chris explains that a timing difference between logic gates produces a non-equal pixel when the ULA do a transition from 0 to 1 and 1 to 0. The Woody's demo Brightminer shows an...

It's not the TV, as I get sound through HDMI using Retropie, with no problems.
ZXBaremulator uses a non-usual sample rate for audio, 32 khz. I guess that some TVs have problems with it.

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

The PI firmware chooses the sound output automatically. When you have a HDMI device connected, the sound is sended to it. When no HDMI device is found, the sound is sended to PWM.

Are you tried with another TV set?

If anyone here uses a Speedlink Competition Pro with zxbaremulator. Does anyone know if you can map the buttons? For me it defaults to the small trianle buttons instead of the big round clicky ones. An hour ago, I've seen an "out of memory" error. A server reboot is the only one option when server runs Windows. But, if you're using Linux is the worst option on the long run.

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

The problem with the buzzing sound is that I can't reproduce it on my TVs. Could be that some TVs aren't happy with the 32 kHz sampling rate I use. The ZX-Uno is dead. I own one, sleeping in his box. Nobody develops cores for it. Now, you can choose a MiSTer, Mistica or SiDi. But don't exist a FPGA...

Re: ZXBaremulator 3.2

The ZX-Uno's Spectrum 48k core is basically correct, but the contended memory timings is wrong on all cores, all FPGA's I know. The 128k core isn't complete and the FPGA PLL can't generate the needed CPU freq. for the model (is off by 8 kHz). The +2a is the same core than 128k with the +2a ROMS. Ho...
