Re: Best opening sequence...

Hi

In the modern era of Spectrum gaming I think Drift! by Zosya Entertainment wins hands down. It's simply stunning, it has everything, great visuals, great animation and really catchy music.

Re: Little bugs in the database 4

Bugaboo the Flea: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/739/ZX-Spectrum/Bugaboo_the_Flea It is a Spanish game called La Pulga, and I'm not sure if we must consider the Spanish release as a re-release, pretty sure they released the game on Spain first or at least at the same time, and even in that c...

Re: Speccy YouTube channels?

From what I've been recommended over the last couple of years, I get the impression this accolade actually goes to Evgeniy Suhomlin (I think that's his name) with his "sinc LAIR" channel. I don't know any Ukrainian or Russian, yet YouTube keeps recommending his videos or streams to me all...

Re: The Most I have seen a game go for on ebay, starter for £300!

For me it's different - I get a huge kick from buying and checking old games, even those which have been a bit mangled by the wheels of time. But it's probably have more to do with a sort of micro-archaeology than nostalgia (which I'm kind of immune to). I just have a great respect for those old so...

Re: The Most I have seen a game go for on ebay, starter for £300!

I remember Rex getting a great review in YS ( a mega game) plus there was a playable demo on a YS covertape and I remember thinking it was a really nice game. But it was impossible to find in the shops! And nobody I knew had a copy either. I think Rex was Martech's second last game, I wonder if the...

Re: The Most I have seen a game go for on ebay, starter for £300!

In the end it's just the supply and demand law. That might've been true, to some extent at least, before covid, Brexit, and other recent quagmires. I built my collection between 2018-19, was watching the retro market very closely during this period, and it was all rather normal. Prices were reasona...

Re: The Most I have seen a game go for on ebay, starter for £300!

Although it's an average game (to say the least), I can understand a high price for Robocop 3 (not that high, really): it was the last or one of the latest games released for the Spectrum by Ocean Software in 1992, probably there were not many units produced and just a few sold, it came in a fragile...

I remember this topic being discussed before. In fact, Match Day entry already includes the TV advert in 'related links' section. But there are still many videos not included. Checking the YT channel of the links you've provided, I see there are more videos: Yes, I've seen all those videos too. Any...

Video previews and TV Commercials

Hi all! In the last few years is quite common that some homebrew Spectrum developers make a video preview or a teaser of their new games. I'm talking about videos made by the same team developing the game or by friends under comission. Some of these video previews are really great, not just showing ...

Do we know who the author is, by the way? The author of both games (Erinia and La Estrella de la Mañana) is "DaRe", but this is just a pseudonym, I don't know his real name. He has a Twitter account: https://twitter.com/DaReInt and a blog: https://dareaventuras.blogspot.com/ Best regards

It seems that ERINIA, a text adventure in Spanish from 2020, has not been included on ZXDB yet.

Hi According to Paco Pastor of ERBE Software, a covers designer for CBS Records called Rufino Vigil was the artist behind the cover of Mapgame (https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/9136/ZX-Spectrum/Mapgame). Hope they amend that for the cassette edition (they have done some improvements on Drift! and Just a Gal, for instance, for their physical editions), and also put a key for map in the prologue of the game.

Re: The Dark: Lost Pages

Nice artwork but I didn't enjoy this as much as Zosya's other recent games I'm afraid. I guess it's different if you like mapping things out, but I don't and I can never get my head around games with changing directions like Dun Darach. Even Andy Capp is beyond me! So I just wandered around lost wi...

Re: The Dark: Lost Pages

Neat as it looks, I hate the games like this where the directions keep getting turned around all the time. They just don't work. Why can't we just have East-West walkways, and when you go North or South there's no long street, you just move up or down to the next parallel East-West path? If you hav...

Re: The Dark: Lost Pages

It remids me of Tir Na Nog, the way the character walks through the paths. Nice game. And the volume control directly from the game itself... it's the first time I've seen that, any other game using it? That's just the prologue of the game. Very much like a blend of Tir Na Nog or Neadeital and Vall...

Re: Marsmare Alienation Extended Edition's Kickstarter

Perhaps I'm too used to shopping games at Matra for just 8,75 euros on great single jewel cassette editions, but they also release some of them on deluxe editions for 22-25 euros. Sorry about Bumfun, but I'm not exactly a fan of his anodyne and expensive single jewel cassette editions. The Matra ar...

Re: Marsmare Alienation Extended Edition's Kickstarter

Hmm, it does get expensive with shipping. I'm fine with €16 for the cassette. Bumfun charge £15 for chrome cassettes, and plenty of boxed games with extras sell for £25-35. I think the Zosya stuff is more unusual. If I don't go for the full package, I'll at least pledge for the digital download. Pe...

Re: Marsmare Alienation Extended Edition's Kickstarter

Even Zosya stuff costs £25 to my door - as much as I like to contribute, that's a £5 more than I'm comfortable with :? Yes, it isn't cheap for sure, but a big part of that price are shipping costs. 15 pounds or 17 euros for a cardboard box edition of Valley of Rains or Drift! is great. A few years ...

Re: Marsmare Alienation Extended Edition's Kickstarter

Great stuff! I thought Marsmare was ace. I can see the Delta's Shadow connection in the Next graphics, which I'm all for. Modernised but recognisably Speccy. Definite backer here! I love this game too, but in my opinion, this physical edition is too expensive. 16 euros for just a single jewel casse...
