Re: island vacation

What specs are the PC with Win 98? - I'm running a 1.3ghz Celeron with Win98 + 512mb SD Ram, onboard graphics, 200gb IDE hard drive and it's pretty damn fast. Can we have emulators on the PC? Anyway, the holiday is in Hawaii, once I've sorted my passport/visas, I'll sod the computer and use the lim...

you have won an all expense paid vacation to Hawaii BUT you are only allowed one computer. your options: 1. Windows 98 ME 2. Commodore vic 20 3. TRS 80 4. Amstrad CPC 5. Coleco ADAM (cannot use on plane or you will die) 6. Atari 800 XL however, you cannot take a disk drive or printer. tape drives ar...

Re: First and final: Ocean Software

I didn't have a clue as to the first ever commercially-released Spectrum game and can't confirm anything, but I've given Spectral Invaders a go and it's pretty damned good if it holds that accolade. Considering the first game most early Speccy users would have played would be Thru The Wall on the H...

Re: Skyrim 48k/128k

Pure Basic. i'm also making a version for the BBC Micro. Graphics are going to be...problematic with just a touchpad. though i have audacity, so maybe i could run some music through that and try (keyword is try) to emulate that with the 128's AY speaker. I've decided to scrap the 48k version altoget...

Re: Snake code in need of improvement

So here's a basic prototype . It uses QAOP but could easily be modified to use WASD. One thing to note is that it uses a string array rather than a number array to store the position of the snake segments; this is to save memory as a number uses 5 bytes but a letter only uses a single byte. It also...

Re: Push the boulder

it's for here. i want to add buttons and such but the Inkey$ command is confusing.

the name of the game is Push Fatty push. your goal is to push the boulder to the top, only to see it roll back down. every push to the top gets you 1 point. accumulate 10 and the game restarts.

Skyrim 48k/128k

so, i'm currently in the process of making a skyrim version for the 48k and 128k/pentagon spectrums. The entire game is text related but i will fix some of the more annoying PC problems: *Removing the companion system: NPC's can still follow and fight with you but can not be talked to *Getting rid o...

Push the boulder

No one remembers the Myth of Sisyphus, but i decided to make a (poorly drawn) version of the boulder. unfortunately, it's crap. i'm posting to show why and how i can improve it. my goal is to make a slanted mountain and a stick figure representing the poor man. i might add some controls, maybe some ...

Re: Crap Game: Snake but the only instruction is LD

so, the base game is good, impressive even. however, the snake lacks any sort of ability to reverse direction. maybe add in some sort of bumper (like in sonic CD in Collision Chaos) that would help the snake reverse direction. also, some music. take advantage of the Spectrum 128's capabilities and c...

Re: Crap Game: Snake but the only instruction is LD

I was thinking of adding WASD keys but that clashes with QAOP which is more 'traditional', IMHO. I'll probably add redefinable keys in a future update. I don't know anything about Amstrad machines, so no idea if anything like this is possible there. EDIT: Would ESDF do? It's the same basic configur...

Snake code in need of improvement

https://s33.postimg.cc/bxg9vsrkb/snake_code_open_to_improvement.gif all i ask is that this code be put to good use. i saw the entry for the crap games competition, and i got an idea, why not make the game for the +3 instead. could be fun. i already mapped out the INKEY$ input (WASD but also want to...
