When I got my ZX81 I was at the time in High School and had taken Computer studies as one of my 4th/5th year options.
We were writing short 5-15 line basic programs etc for homework so the 1k was plenty enough for me to do that on..yes I actually did use it for homework.

If they do end up getting the plastics from China that's 6-8weeks just in shipping...unless they fly them which I doubt due to the cost of doing that...Late July/Aug delivery of finished units perhaps.

Yeah TS1000 are 10 a penny...you can pick one up for $15 easy on ebay. (and they have 2k rather than the ZX81s 1k)

FYI, if you are relatively handy with a soldering iron it's easy to add the clock, internal speaker and pi board (as well as pop in the extra memory).
