Re: Dogfight David

It does the job as a 2 player shooter, but with an alliterative title like that, I rather hoped this was a new oldschool platform game

Re: Fanzine Planeta Sinclair & Museu LOAD ZX Spectrum issue 5

I can't read the PT, but the style, layout and general gist of the mags are great. There's something about the scratchy fanzine cover seen here, and also issue #1 that I love.

Closely connected to the Speccy enough for me. I've added it to the original list. This is turning into quite a road trip.

Re: Spot the font!

Interesting. When I posted here first, I nearly did a 'thread calling PQR !' I'm both surprised and not that there were so many unique fonts in the early 80s computers. My first instinct was that they would all use a template pretty much decided in 1979, but most of us here know how easy, intuitive ...

Re: Spot the font!

Neat. I wouldn't be surprised if the Italian bookshop was paying homage to the Speccy font. Does anyone know how the Speccy got its character sets (starting with the wider ZX80 one, then the narrower ZX81 onwards)? Was it a standard 8 bit font at the time, or was it designed to be unique to the Spec...

Re: Vectornauts (Full version)

Brilliant game. I'm glad to see it updated with AY and extra gameplay. The style and setting make it feel more than 'just' another platformer. I found it easy to finish first time, which isn't a problem as I rarely finish anything these days. In this case I would have happily played more if this was...

Nice find, and a good Hunchback ahem, tribute. TZX and load screen added to the queue for this ID.

I think a take-home message here is that digitised speech, however well done, is best used sparingly.

Re: Janitor Jim

I've put all three authors down as new labels until more info comes to light. I agree that it's unlikely to be Richard M Taylor based on the rest of his work. If anyone's up for a bit of sleuthing, Philip McKuhen isn't a common name, and could be a good lead on social media. Is there an inlay or any...

If it's not too much trouble, I'd find it useful in both ASM and BASIC ready formats:

db 128,129,133,

DATA 128,129,133,etc

An option to have all CHR$ followed by ATTR, or CHR$ mixed with ATTR would be the cherry on the cake :–)

@Gilby do you have an inlay for any of these Geography games? I assume "Mr Chips" here is not the same as Mr Chip already in the archive, but I'd rather get more confirmation before making a new label.

I see Revenge of Trasmoz is in the pipeline but Amstrad only. Hope we get a port, especially as it's probablyl very do-able now with AGD games.

Interesting radio program , or podcast as we're pleased to call them now. The Speccy doesn't specifically get a mention, but it interviews Shahid Ahmad about when he ported Jet Set Willy to the C64...in 3 weeks*. It includes lots of archive footage and ranges from Pong to modern online gaming. *10 ...
