Re: Wednesday Night Quiz: Toilets!
Bloody well done—how the hell did you get that?! I'm familiar with the game, but close up, the toilet looks rough and ready, quite incongruous with the rest of the game. Modern game, decent size bowl, black ink on white paper and on screen all of the time. :) It does look a bit rough doesn't it. I ...

Re: Elite - Joystick Club version not working on real hardware
How difficult is it to convert elite.tzx from here (48K tape side B, with Adder) into a TAP file? Do you have to reverse engineer the turboloader, or are there tools that will recognise it? I can't find any automated method that would do the trick. One wouldn't necessarily need to reverse engineer ...

Re: Elite - Joystick Club version not working on real hardware
I did a quick key swap poke: Nkeyswap M 8 65384 4 1 M 8 65385 16 32 M 8 65432 1 4 Z 8 65433 32 16 Y This will swap the B-key with the symbol-shift-key. Since the B-key was only used to re-center while looking at the map it shouldn't matter if it's symbol-shift now instead and a bit out of the way. (...

Re: Elite - Joystick Club version not working on real hardware
@ersh have you hacked Elite apart enough to be able to create a poke to replace "Symbol Shift" with "." for improving the flight controls on a Plus/128K keyboard? Or is it horrible because technically it's a combo (Sym+M) rather than a single keypress? I had a quick look. If I u...

Re: Why is the screen-memory, the way it is?
The closest graphics mode on the c64 is the standard bitmap mode 320x200 (also referred to hires) and it's not linear either. The bitmap stores each 8x8 character as 8 consecutive bytes, it then has an area of screen memory that handles the colour, much like the Spectrum attributes.

That's absolutely right, forgot about that Simpsons game. It also saw numerous ports on the home micros.

Re: Where any NES games ever ported to the Speccy 'Officially' ?
The available on other platforms for the Batman game needs NES removing if that is the case. The only thing in common between Ocean's Batman and Sunsoft's NES version is the movie license. But maybe that's enough to warrant a mention in the database, I don't know. :? Looking at the NES maps ( http:...

Re: Where any NES games ever ported to the Speccy 'Officially' ?
Ocean's Batman has nothing to do with the NES games. Ghost and Goblins, Bionic Commando and Bubble Bobble are ports of the arcade games not of the NES versions.

Re: Where any NES games ever ported to the Speccy 'Officially' ?
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles was ported from the NES to various home computers, including the Spectrum. Can't think of any other ports that originated on the NES.
