Re: Manic Miner finishers

Had a go this evening (emulator), managed to finish. Got a bit lucky on the Warehouse as I'd forgotten the route. :dance :dance https://i.imgur.com/Y2lvAou.png Continued through to the Warehouse before dying, final score of 64369 (I think). - I still lose lives regularly on the Warehouse and Solar P...

Re: Devfinitive Edition (David Jones): vote

1. Finders Keepers
2. Knight Tyme 128
3. Stormbringer 128

I loved Finders Keepers, but found Spellbound a bit too hard. Just kept dying of lethargy, hunger, or something else.

Never played Fourth Protocol, feel like I should read the book first.

Has anyone made a 'definitely not Bonkers' joke yet?

That's strange - I was sure that someone had disassembled Cyclone in the past, but I can't find a reference to it anywhere. I must have imagined it.

Re: The 20 games with a <= 10% rating from all three major ZX Spectrum magazines

I thought Battlecars was pretty good. There are Crash Smashes that I'd consider worse than it even. It is, of course, a very niche game being an adaptation of a tabletop board/dice game that ideally needs two players, and not exactly the most intuitive thing to pick up and play. Also, Julian Gollop...

Re: How do you know where a front cover image is stored?

I was trying to learn how to connect to zxinfo.dk to display an image from the game, and ended up doing this: // Check if in-game screen URL starts /zxdb/sinclair/ or /pub/sinclair/ and set imageUrl prefix accordingly if (imageUrl[1] == 'z') { imageDisplay.setAttribute('src', "https://zxinfo.dk...

OK, here you go, think this may do it:

O/P and SPACE

Code: Select all

POKE 30356,127
POKE 30370,223
Q/W and SPACE

Code: Select all

POKE 30356,127

POKE 30374,79

Re: How big should new Speccy games be? 48k? Bigger? Release 2 versions?

I used a 48k and 128k toastrack extensively back in the day and appreciate both, but nowadays I do quite like seeing games that play on the 48k, so voted for that, just because it's a personal preference. In-game AY music is often great to listen to for a bit, but I sometimes get a bit fed up of it ...

Re: Unnecessary inclusions in games

Halls of the Things was especially bad in that regard with about a bazillion keys (great game though). Talking about unnecessary inclusions, the sword in Hall of the Things was probably the most useless weapon - did anyone ever use it? If you got close enough to a Thing to try to use your sword, yo...

Bit of self-reflection with Know Your Own Personality, by Mirrorsoft.

Had to answer a LOT of questions for this. I suspected as much when the loader has a whole bunch of "Character array: " blocks.
