Re: What do you now know many years later

In Psion's sorta-classic Space Raiders , if you fire a bullet, then press and hold SPACE and B together, your bullet stops and hangs in midair until you release the keys, at which point it carries on. This makes it a lot easier to pick off spaceships or the last, fast moving invaders. Hi! Can I add...

Re: Games Exposed

I love to see the disassemblies, I usually learn curious things about the code and the author, and to learn a little detail you didn't know about a game you played for so long, make my day. If I could peek a title to work in, might be Xcel https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/5781/ZX-Spectrum/Xcel ...

Oh, thanks @8BitAG seems that the magazine I was checking in does not have the supplement. Great, we can fix it without touching anything regarding the author.

Re: Little bugs in the database 4

I have been typing in a few of the magazine MIA titles and noticed this reference to a program called Cats . The magazine reference (Sinclair User, 1982/9 Page 4) takes you to an advert for Melbourne House. The same reference is in 'The Type Fantastic' which is I guess where we got our data from. I...

Re: Little bugs in the database 4

The bookzine cover appears twice in the listing Treasure Island and book pack published by Boots. Look at additional downloads. One is on archive.org the other is local. https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry.php?id=2001369 I see that the one hosted by SC is really low quality (https://spectrumcompu...

Re: Some Iron Chip games changes

Thanks @iron_chip for the changes.
@druellan - I could not do ^this^ one using Pav's form. The original publisher needs to be changed to Iron Chip. Nothing else. Can you do this?
Sure. Just to be clear, the rest of the changes are going to be added using the Pav's tool, right?

Oh I'd not complain as such about language issues like that, because I know a lot of people for whom English is their secondary or tertiary language. :) I'm still trying (badly) to learn two as well  I was about to open a thread on the forum about exactly this. Because there are some very bad...

Sorry, it was not my intent to seem pushy. I know things take time. I was just giving feedback on my part. This double-checks are really useful, sometimes small fixes like this one get mixed into another complex discussion and never land. I'm checking this one to be sure it is included in the next ...

Re: ZX Spectrum games on the, er, ZX Spectrum (yeah, this is meta)

I remember Circuit Board Scramble from back in the day on my Timex. The idea is interesting, but in the end it is just a Pac Man clone with an intermission were the ULA instructs you to check the status of a chip. We might label it as educational, since it's kind of teaching basic computer component...

I do know -exactly- what you mean with this and I've lost numerous lines over the years due to it. Just pressing zero on its own however usually will on the ZX version delete a single character (iirc) but habits mean you tend to automatically press delete or CS+0 I know! Exactly that! We neve...

Re: Pringles celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the ZX Spectrum

Hello! Me again. :) Just wondering - those that loaded the code, or attempting to, how long did you spend doing it? Minutes/Hours/Days? I spent a few minutes. Got the WAV file using a site that extracts audio from YT videos and then dropped the file directly into the emulator (Fuse). I later decide...

Re: Across the formats - Lets play "The Hobbit"

Nice investigation and testing!
Quick question. One particular thing on the ZX Spectrum versión is that the backspace deletes the entire line instead of one char. Is this the same on other versions?

Thanks DAV83 , this is exactly the place to comment this things, so, feel free to add anything you find here or in this forum section. About the report, I can see Stephen Corry mentioned in the SPOT/SPEX entry, right? And on the ZXDB Nick Thomson is mentioned as author, so the error is in SPOT/SPEX.

Re: MIA and uMIA digouts

Hi! The idea is to preserve everything in TZX format, even software that does not have any custom loader, since the format preserves also pauses and other things in the tape. It's not as good as a pure WAV but it is considered a good compromise. TAP is considered a legacy format for devices that doe...
